DISCUSSION TOPICS
Current CPTPP members will
have a voice at the table to define
regional trade rules going forward –
what that may mean for the Asia-
Pacific region specifically;
The CPTPP is key to securing
future growth and creating trade
and investment opportunities for all
its member economies;
CPTPP members are working
together to improve connectivity –
how the Agreement will help to
promote and enhance supply
chains; and
Trade agreements must benefit all
segments of society, not just large
multinationals – how the CPTPP
promotes a progressive trade
agenda, particularly for SMEs.
The Comprehensive and Progressive
Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership
(CPTPP) is a trade agreement comprising
11 countries representing 495 million people
and a combined GDP of US$10.5 trillion.
Once the CPTPP enters into force, it will be
one of the largest trade agreements in the
world.
With the international rules-based trading
system under threat, the CPTPP comes at
an important moment in time . Senior
representatives from three of the member
countries, Canada, Japan and Australia, will
discuss the strategic importance and
benefits of the CPTPP. The discussion will
focus on a range of topics, including:
PANELISTS
"The CPTPP reaffirms the
importance of promoting corporate
social responsibility, cultural
identity and diversity,
environmental protection and
conservation, gender equality,
Indigenous rights, labour rights,
inclusive trade, sustainable
development and traditional
knowledge, as well as the
importance of preserving the right
of governments to regulate in the
public interest. Canada is proud to
be a party to the CPTPP, an
agreement which provides for a
progressive, rules-based trading
environment and sets a high
standard for trade agreements in
the Asia-Pacific."
"CPTPP will accelerate growth of
its members in Asia-Pacific,
penetrating shared trade and
investment rules within the region.
Embodying a free and fair market
economy, CPTPP itself could be a
strong message to the world amid
protectionism fears."
"The CPTPP represents a key
moment in shaping our region’s
future economic integration and
growth trajectory. It will
significantly increase market
access to a free trade area that
represents almost one quarter of
Australia’s total exports. It will also
deliver legally guaranteed,
improved conditions for services
exporters, while ensuring that
members are able to continue
regulating in their national
interests."

  • 2. DISCUSSION TOPICS Current CPTPP members will have a voice at the table to define regional trade rules going forward – what that may mean for the Asia- Pacific region specifically; The CPTPP is key to securing future growth and creating trade and investment opportunities for all its member economies; CPTPP members are working together to improve connectivity – how the Agreement will help to promote and enhance supply chains; and Trade agreements must benefit all segments of society, not just large multinationals – how the CPTPP promotes a progressive trade agenda, particularly for SMEs. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is a trade agreement comprising 11 countries representing 495 million people and a combined GDP of US$10.5 trillion. Once the CPTPP enters into force, it will be one of the largest trade agreements in the world. With the international rules-based trading system under threat, the CPTPP comes at an important moment in time . Senior representatives from three of the member countries, Canada, Japan and Australia, will discuss the strategic importance and benefits of the CPTPP. The discussion will focus on a range of topics, including:
  • 3. PANELISTS "The CPTPP reaffirms the importance of promoting corporate social responsibility, cultural identity and diversity, environmental protection and conservation, gender equality, Indigenous rights, labour rights, inclusive trade, sustainable development and traditional knowledge, as well as the importance of preserving the right of governments to regulate in the public interest. Canada is proud to be a party to the CPTPP, an agreement which provides for a progressive, rules-based trading environment and sets a high standard for trade agreements in the Asia-Pacific." "CPTPP will accelerate growth of its members in Asia-Pacific, penetrating shared trade and investment rules within the region. Embodying a free and fair market economy, CPTPP itself could be a strong message to the world amid protectionism fears." "The CPTPP represents a key moment in shaping our region’s future economic integration and growth trajectory. It will significantly increase market access to a free trade area that represents almost one quarter of Australia’s total exports. It will also deliver legally guaranteed, improved conditions for services exporters, while ensuring that members are able to continue regulating in their national interests."
