ZEWIPRO (Zero Emissions Wine Production) is a project funded under the
CIP Eco-Innovation Programme, which aims at the development of
innovative solutions with low environmental impact and a better use of
resources.
ZEWIPRO objective is introducing an innovative technology in wineries
aiming at the decrease and the purification of carbon dioxide released
during the grape fermentation. In detail, the CO2, through a patented
technology (photo bioreactor) is reused for the breeding of algae. It gives
the opportunity to cellars of entering a very profitable business and an
image payback as “zero emission wine producer”.

Algae: which yield?
 2 million algae cell = 2 weeks;
 1 photo bioreactor: 90 kg of CO2 = 45 kg of algae;
 1500 kg of algae = 875 litre of biodiesel;
 1500 kg of algae = 825 kg of omega 3;
 1 ton of algae mass = 300 kW bioenergetic potential.
