Slovenia and totalling over 1,200 km or 750 miles.

whopping 4,807.81 meters or 15,773.7 feet, and the second tallest peak in
the Alps being Monte Rosa, located in Switzerland and having a height of

5. IMPORTANT FACTS
The Alps formed when the European and African tectonic plates slowly collided
together. This collision helped close the ancientTethys Sea which produced complex
lithological and structural patterns which, after all of this resulted in the huge mountains
that still exist to this day.
The most important passes are Col de l`Iseran(the highest pass in the mountain range),the
Brenner Pass,The Mont-Cenis,The Gotthard Pass and the Stelvio Pass.
The Stelvio Pass is also know as one of the most dangerous roads in the world
There are a good amount of underground tunnels,do you want to climb the mountains
everyday to go to another place? No?Well, the locals didn’t want to do that either so they
built tunnels to make it easier to go from place to place.
There is a lot of wildlife, there are 4,500 species of plants,200 bird ,21 amphibian and 15
reptile and 80 mammal species there.
7. WEATHER
The weather in the Alps depends at what altitude you are at. Mean
January temperatures on the valley floors range from 23 to 39 °F
(−5 to 4 °C) to as high as 46 °F (8 °C) in the mountains bordering
the Mediterranean, whereas mean July temperatures range
between 59 and 75 °F (15 and 24 °C).
In the resort area of St Moritz, daytime temperatures during the
summer months average between 46F and 52F (8C and 11C), while
the average temperature during the winter is 25F (-7C) during the
day.
