that give you an edge in your industry. Each Stage includes detailed steps that guarantee a
polished final result.
During this stage, we take the time to get to know you and your company, and learn about
your story.We ask questions, listen, and work to understand what you are trying to achieve.
• Review existing data. We roll up our
sleeves, dig in, and review all existing
information and data.We don’t ignore
the work you’ve already done—after all,
you know your customers and challenges
better than we do!
• Gather information and conduct
interviews.We get to know your team,
your department, division, or company
through questionnaires, meetings, and
one-on-one interviews. The more people
we talk to, the better insights we gain.
• Shadow the intended users. Sometimes
our customers are contemplating
changing an existing process or migrating
to a new application. In these situations,
we can observe your employees or
customers in action and then make
recommendations for automation or
improved efficiency.
• Identify platforms and technology. We
discuss any technical requirements you
might have and help you determine what
would best serve you:a native mobile app,
a cross-platform mobile application, or a
desktop-based web application.
• Identify specific needs. Once we’ve learned
about your unique vision or specific
challenges, we recommend solutions for
what we believe will make the best initial
implementation.

2. • Design necessary data structures.We do
the under-the-hood work to define the
underlying database structures and data
sources, and we plan for future growth
opportunities.
• Create wireframes.We show you our ideas
in simple pictures to help you visualize
what will eventually go on the screen. As
the vision for the project takes shape, we
continue revising the wirefames to further
align with your expectations.
• Write user stories. If necessary, we
document the stories of people using the
application and what need it fills. Their
tasks drive our design and development.
• Develop interaction diagrams. These flow
diagrams walk you through how the user
will interact with the product every step
of the way.They give you a real feel for the
user progression and allow you to make
sure every action is accounted for.This is
especially useful with complex applications
that can be used in many ways.
• Conduct rapid prototyping. If a static
wireframe isn’t enough, we use interactive
tools that walk you through key tasks to
get a sense of the user experience. These
prototypes demonstrate basic functionality
and give you a feel for the application.
STAGE 2: PLAN + SKETCH
Just as an architect creates a blueprint for a custom home, we build a blueprint for your custom
software based on what we learn during Stage 1.The blueprint may include visually compelling
wireframes, realistic user stories, and a clear technical description. During this stage, we work
closely with you, sharing ideas and collaborating back and forth. By getting everything on paper,
you know exactly what to expect!

approved design and clear technical description of the application, down to every button
and click. Like the custom homebuilder, we are now ready for construction.
• Write code. Our highly experienced

engineers who follow industry standards
and best practices to make sure the code
we write is robust, secure, and scalable.
• Conduct user testing.We make sure
real people walk through every screen,
every menu, and every button click as
they perform real-world tasks with your
software.
• Perform automated testing. To ensure
all critical sections of the code are
tested when changes occur, we develop
automated programs to test key areas of
the software as requested. Automated
testing gives you peace of mind knowing
that the most business-critical aspects of
your application will work today, and will
continue to work as your software grows
and changes.
• Hold usability tests.When requested,
we bring in people who represent your
audience to try out the software on real
activities and identify any usability issues.
We want your software to be easy to use
from day one.
• Analyze feedback and refine code.
We spend time and energy to get the
blueprint right during Stage 2 of our
process. However, we’re prepared for the
unexpected. For example, maybe you
discover that a prior assumption doesn’t
work when translated to the screen, or run
across something that just doesn’t “feel”
right.We work with you to find a solution
and then prioritize these enhancements to
keep your project moving toward a timely
launch.
• Launch the product.We’re right here
beside you to ensure a smooth, successful
launch—whether it’s a big release to the
public, or a soft launch to a small, internal
group of beta users.
