Application of BERO™ Biosurfactant in Pucheng Oilfield and Its Effect
After a long time of exploration in the PuCheng oilfield, wax, asphaltene and other
substances with oil flow process due to the lower pressure and temperature, crystals
deposited on the inner wall of the oil passage in the rock caused the clogging of the oil
passage, resulting in a sharp decline in oil production, restricting the sustainable
development of the oilfield.
To effectively solve this problem, developed a new plugging agent - BERO™ biosurfactant
and made a performance evaluation, the evaluation indicates that the biosurfactant has
good temperature resistance, water-soluble, can be easily separated from the oil, and
zero pollution. Implementation on 25 wells, effective 24 wells, cumulative increased
27,231.8bbls of oil, input-output ratio of 1:3.6, and did not cause any environmental
pollution problems, made good economic and social benefits, has broad application
prospects.
Currently, Pucheng Oilfield is in late-stage development, a variety of problems to some
extent restricts sustainable development of the oilfield. The production decline resulting
from the formation plugging is also part of the reason. Take statistics of historical blockage,
found the main cause of oil passage plugging is three aspects: First, wax, asphaltene and
other substances deposited on the inner wall of the oil passage of the rock, cause
blockage of the oil passage in the near wellbore, this accounted for 45 %; Second, After a
longer-term production, the volume of the solid particles in the crude oil increases,
resulting in the formation of the hole tract blockage, that accounts for 37%; Third is due to
the hydration expansion of the high clay content formation reduces the formation
permeability, this accounted for 12%. Usually solving such kind of problem is acidified,
after years of on-site implementation proving acidification caused by the above three
cases cannot achieve the desired effect, and will cause environmental pollution. To solve
the problem, BERO™biosurfactant unplugged technology through laboratory experiments
demonstrated its' plugging removal mechanism and performance evaluation, with a field
test, achieved good economic and social benefits.
Refer to the implementation of the different categories of plugging wells in PuCheng
Oilfield, we classified implementation for different wells, 25 wells were implemented
throughout the year.

Wells clean implementation effect of biosurfactant
Note Plugging Type
1) Considering wax, asphaltene and other substances flow with oil, pressure and
temperature decreases, the crystals deposited on the inner wall of the oil passage of
the rock, cause blockage of the oil passage in the near wellbore;
2) After a longer-term production, crude oil solid phase particle volume increases,
resulting in the formation of the hole tract blockage;
3) Due to the high clay content formation, expansion due to hydration reduces the
formation permeability;
4) By the effect analysis, BERO™’s working effect on 1 and 2 for the case plugging is
very satisfactory, for 3, the effect is not obvious, it once again proves BERO™’s
removal mechanism to the plugging.

Well Pu 3-418 of Zhongyuan Oilfield features high water cut and low permeability,it was
completed on January 16th, 2002. This well had a daily average oil production in 2005
and 2006 of 9.4 BOPD and 5.8 BOPD respectively. Through analysis, the Company
believes that the main reason for production reduction is the blockage of near-wellbore
zone. According to production need and the requirements of geological solution of Well Pu
3-418, the BERO™ biosurfactant was used to remove plugging for Well Pu 3-418 on
November 2, 2006. After the plugging removal, the average daily liquid production of this
well reaches 100.8 BFPD, water cut 67% and daily oil production 33.1 BOPD currently,
exceeding the maximum production in the past. Compared with the daily oil production in
2005, oil production increased by 300% after the plugging removal;while compared with
the daily oil production in 2006 before plugging removal, oil production increased by 400%;
It is proved that plugging removal by using BERO™ biosurfactant is effective. As of July
2007, the daily oil production of this well maintained at 33.1 BOPD and the crude oil
production increased by about 5760 bbls on a cumulative basis.
Conclusion
The technology application analysis, which has good results, proved that the technology is
a pollution-free, non-hazardous to environment, non-hazardous to formation, less
investment and high efficiency biological technology.
With the field development continues, plugging will cause serious problem during oilfield
operation, BERO™biosurfactant plugging removal technique has extremely broad
application prospects.
