11. Commercial services are relatively disrupted and segregated alone Grattan St, which results in a weak pedestrian
spine due to low street activity levels. Dead building façade with high proportion of on-street car parks generates
poor walking experience, which further impacts the amenity negatively on Grattan street.

-The building is too far from the street edge, making it difficult to interact with the building
-The lawn is on the south side of the building, which generates less people sitting on the lawn
because of over shadowing
-The building frontage is not welcoming to the public and does not contribute to the public realm
-There is no street furniture to support street activation.

Re-define St. Kilda Junction and St. Kilda South
to be an iconic cultural and the heart of a new
intregrated precinct of pedestrian friendly public
urban spaces for the existing and future commu-
nities that is connected to its environment.
O b j e c t i v e s
Increase density in order to activate the ameni-
ties around this area that lead to more engaged
community members yielding benefits relating
to public participation and involvement in com-
munity outcomes.
Enhance community integration by being acces-
sible, welcoming, green and sustainable as well
as providing more friendly pedestrian, cycling
network and well being outcomes such as com-
munity meeting spaces
Introduce public activity center (nodes) to ensure
the
stability of urban ow in that area
Restore public life to the street
Provide for long term employment and housing
needs at a suitable scales
33. Fast traffic movement
