Editor's Notes
This slide speaks well to the business challenges around managing content. As collaborative tools are more widely deployed, teams collaboratively author documents & share projects that generate content. Content is shared both inside your enterprise as well as externally with customers and partners. Web 2.0 authoring tools allow discussion and debate, blogging, and the creation of wiki's. They allow team members to use whatever IT tools are most familiar to them to create and author new content So …given that content creation and collaboration have become pervasive and the volume of content use, types, and sources has exploded in the enterprise, retention management, and the manageability as well as the discovery of content is becoming more important than ever. Organizations must be able to access and manage content across many disparate content sources. Again, much of the viral content we see being generated today is originating from multiple sources, and as you would expect, collaboration and social software is one of many content driven applications contributing to this trend. But again – there are numerous content types and sources which must be managed within organizations… and their ability to effectively manage and re-purpose this content is fundamental in addressing the key organizational business challenges….as I discussed earlier.
