1. How To: Get an e-mail address
1. Choose an e-mail provider. Three of the most popular, FREE e-mail services are
a. MSN Hotmail
i. Go to the Sign Up for Hotmail link. (http://tinyurl.com/msn-email-
signup)
ii. Choose an e-mail name. It can be anything, including your name or
nickname, or something completely different.
1. Examples: bobsmith, bobsmith110855, boblovesporsches
iii. Choose a password. It should be easy to remember, but hard to
guess. Hotmail requires it be six characters which can include
letters, numbers, and symbols.
iv. Fill in the information on the form – Name, State, Zip code,
gender, and birth year.
v. Fill in the “Security Question” – this is used in case you forget
your password; the provider needs to know something about you
that only you know (like mother’s maiden name or name of your
first pet.)
vi. Type in the CAPTCHA characters. (What’s a CAPTCHA?

vii. Click “I Accept.”
viii. Log in to your e-mail.
b. Yahoo!
i. Go to the Sign Up for Yahoo! Mail link (http://tinyurl.com/yahoo-
email-signup)
ii. Fill in the information required – name, gender, birthday, and postal code.
iii. Choose an e-mail address name. As with Hotmail (or any other provider), it
can be anything!
iv. Fill in the “Security Question” information.
v. Type in the CAPTCHA characters.
vi. Click the “I Agree” box.
vii. Click “Create My Account.”
c. Google Gmail
i. Go to the Create a Google Account link (http://tinyurl.com/gmail-
email-signup)
ii. Fill in your name and desired username/e-mail address.
iii. Choose a password. Google helps you by telling you how good of
a password it is.
iv. Choose a Security Question and answer.
v. Type in the CAPTCHA characters.
vi. Click the “I accept. Create my account” button.
