2. Overview AO-ShopFast! is a personalized shopping assistant for smartphones that encourages healthy eating by recommending suitable foods based on your antioxidant levels. Shopping Assistant App Antioxidant Scanner
3. Rationale Antioxidants increase immune function and decrease risk of disease infection and cancer. 60% of grocery shoppers did not eat enough fruits and vegetables daily. Individuals have 30% lower mean body anti-oxidant levels than optimal.
4. Problem Statement: People Tertiary students (18-25 years old) Living by themselves Do their own grocery shopping Plan and prepare their own meals Health conscious Tech-savvy
14. Technology: Shopping Assistants ShopHealthy! Popular grocery guide for Apple devices Nutritional information for 100,000 foods BUT: No personalisation
15. Technology: Shopping Assistants Find-it (Meijer grocery stores) In-store locations Locate sale items Time-saving Positioning technology: Wi-Fi access points BUT: No ‘What’, Only ‘Where’
20. Criticism of Solution “Our solution was aimed at providing more relevant health, nutritional and serving information of foods. Based on feedback from prototyping, we realised that more information does not directly mean greater impetus to buy and consume. What do you think?” “Antioxidant is a novel concept, relatively less well known as other nutrition indicators such as calories and fat content. Do you think that there is the possibility of users not being persuaded by our application that uses antioxidant as an indicator of health?”
