1. Event report
We all have it, but don't use it
23 April 2012, at Vlerick Campus Ghent
The alumni event ‘We all have it, but don’t use it’ last Monday 23 April in Ghent, brought
the spirits of more than 50 participants to extreme heights thanks to the energetic
presentation on how to use tablets and smart phones by five Vlerick Leuven Gent
Management School students: Steven Debersaques, Pierre Maere, Erik Decoster, Mathias
Yde and Yves Prössler.
The students, being geeks in the use of modern technology, designed and delivered all the
information that one needs to know about modern tablets and smart phones in the
domains of Access to Information, Productivity tools, Communication and Collaboration; the
agenda ended covering the domain of Entertainment and how to get pleasure out of those
machines as well.
The use of two screens supported the interactive discussion: one screen showed the
presentation slides with the structure of the agenda and the essential features of the tablet
applications. The other screen allowed the participants to see in real time how the tablet
applications function and look like.
From the start the participants asked questions and offered their experience to the
audience as well. As a result that questions and answer session became an idea-market
session with everyone learning from the experience of others, resulting in a lively ambience
and atmosphere of friendship in the room.
As so often, the evening ended in the bar of the school where many participants expressed
their gratitude regarding the high quality of the event, mainly due to the high score on
practicality, clarity, interactivity and the contagious enthusiasm of the students-presenters.
