PASSIVE VOICE
VOICE
Voice is the term
used to describe
whether a verb is
active or passive.
ACTIVE VOICE
the subject
performs the
action denoted
by the verb.
PASSIVE VOICE
show interest in the
person or object that
experiences an action
rather than the person
or object that
performs the action.
VERB
To make the passive voice
you need to use transitive
verb such as to eat, to
drink ,to give ,to buy ,etc.
You cannot use
intransitive verbs which
are to run, to go, to fly,
etc.

PAST SIMPLE TENSE
Subject + was/were + V3 + by + Object
Example :
Active voice : When she arrived, Ompai’s house was
burning
Passive voice : Ompai’s house was being burned when
she arrived.
Subject + was/were +being+V3
PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
Example :
Active voice : Ompai had eaten a hamburger before he
went to his home.
Passive voice : Hamburger had been eaten before he
went to his home.
Subject + had+been+V3
PAST PERFECTTENSE
Example :
Active voice : Ompai had been preparing his
presentation for three weeks before he presented to
teacher.
Passive voice : His presentation had being prepared for
three weeks before he presented to teacher.

Active: Namwarn pays a lot of money.
Passive: A lot of money is paid by namwarn.

Example
Active: Now,He is washing the car.
Passive: Now,The car is being washing by him.
Active :Last friday night jaae has made a wedding
dress for yim.
Passive : Last Friday night,A wedding has been made
by jaae.

Active voice : She has been reading the book .
Passive voice : The book has been being read by her

Passive voice : A ticket is going to be bought by them here.
FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE
S + will be + being + V3 + by…
Example
Active voice : Benz will be eating Pedpro tomorrow.
Passive voice : Pedpro will be being eaten by Benz tomorrow.
FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
S + will have + been + V3 + by…
Example
Active voice : By next Monday Nick will have taken the
examination.
Passive voice : By next Monday the examination will have
been taken by Nick.
FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
S + will have + been being + V3 + by…
Example
Active voice : Jaae will have been playing Snapchat for an
hour before she take a bath.
Passive voice : Snapchat will have been being played by Jaae
for an hour before she take a bath.
Modal verbs
Modal verb + be + past participle
Example :
Active : You should study the lessons everyday .
Passive : the lessons should be studied everyday.
Active : Students must not break the window of the
school.
Passive : The window of the school must not be
broken by a students

Verbs with two objects
Cartoon gives a doll to get.

Imperative sentence
Let + object + be + past participle
Example :
Active : Don’t kill your friend in class.
Passive : Let your friend not be killed in class.
Active : Open your eyes.
Passive : Let your eyes be opened.
In Active Voice sentence that use with think , consider ,
know , acknowledge , report , say , find , claim ,
understand , believe , hope , fear , feel can change
into 2 forms of passive voice.
Active : People say that she was jealous of Kim.
Passive 1 : It was said that she was jealous of
Kim.
Passive 2 : She was said to be jealous of Kim.
If Active voice sentence have infinitive without ‘to’
,when you change into Passive Voice don’t
forget to add Infinitive with ‘to’ .
Active : We saw them go out.
Passive : They were seen to go out.
Active : He made us work.
Passive : We were made to work.
Except the word “Let” that is still use
Infinitive without ‘to’ in Passive Voice .
Active : You let me go.
Passive : I were let go.
GAME

The meeting is being talked about by them.
4.I have opened the present.
The present has been opened by me.
1.Ompai gave john a bottle of orange juice.
John was given a bottle of orange juice by Ompai.
2.Ompai had been cooking Frechfries for an hour.
Frenchfries had being cooked by Ompai for an hour.
5.She will have finished her homework.
Her homework will have been finished by her.
Rewrite the sentences in passive voice.

Passive voice

  • 2. VOICE Voice is the term used to describe whether a verb is active or passive.
  • 3. ACTIVE VOICE the subject performs the action denoted by the verb.
  • 4. PASSIVE VOICE show interest in the person or object that experiences an action rather than the person or object that performs the action.
  • 5. VERB To make the passive voice you need to use transitive verb such as to eat, to drink ,to give ,to buy ,etc. You cannot use intransitive verbs which are to run, to go, to fly, etc.
  • 8. Example : Active voice : Katy burned Ompai’s house yesterday. Passive voice : Ompai’s house was burned by Katy. OR Ompai’s house was burned. PAST SIMPLE TENSE Subject + was/were + V3 + by + Object
  • 9. Example : Active voice : When she arrived, Ompai’s house was burning Passive voice : Ompai’s house was being burned when she arrived. Subject + was/were +being+V3 PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
  • 10. Example : Active voice : Ompai had eaten a hamburger before he went to his home. Passive voice : Hamburger had been eaten before he went to his home. Subject + had+been+V3 PAST PERFECTTENSE
  • 11. Example : Active voice : Ompai had been preparing his presentation for three weeks before he presented to teacher. Passive voice : His presentation had being prepared for three weeks before he presented to teacher. Subject + had+being+V3 PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
  • 14. PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE Subject + is, am, are, + V3 + by + Object Example Active: Namwarn pays a lot of money. Passive: A lot of money is paid by namwarn.
  • 15. PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE Subject +is, am, are,+being+V3+by+Object Example Active: Now,He is washing the car. Passive: Now,The car is being washing by him.
  • 16. Active :Last friday night jaae has made a wedding dress for yim. Passive : Last Friday night,A wedding has been made by jaae. PRESENT PERFECT TENSE Subject +has/have+been+V3+by+Object Example
  • 17. Active voice : She has been reading the book . Passive voice : The book has been being read by her PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE Subject +has/have+been being+V3+by+Object Example
  • 20. FUTURE SIMPLE TENSE S + will + be + V3 + by… Example Active voice : Karok will bite ply if she ignores her again. Passive voice : Ply will be bitten by Karok if she ignore her again.
  • 21. S + is, am, are + going to + be + V3 + by… Example Active voice : They are going to buy a ticket here. Passive voice : A ticket is going to be bought by them here.
  • 22. FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE S + will be + being + V3 + by… Example Active voice : Benz will be eating Pedpro tomorrow. Passive voice : Pedpro will be being eaten by Benz tomorrow.
  • 23. FUTURE PERFECT TENSE S + will have + been + V3 + by… Example Active voice : By next Monday Nick will have taken the examination. Passive voice : By next Monday the examination will have been taken by Nick.
  • 24. FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE S + will have + been being + V3 + by… Example Active voice : Jaae will have been playing Snapchat for an hour before she take a bath. Passive voice : Snapchat will have been being played by Jaae for an hour before she take a bath.
  • 25. Modal verbs Modal verb + be + past participle Example : Active : You should study the lessons everyday . Passive : the lessons should be studied everyday. Active : Students must not break the window of the school. Passive : The window of the school must not be broken by a students

  • 27. Verbs with two objects Cartoon gives a doll to get. Direct object Indirect object A doll get Passive voice form : subject verb object Sentence 1 Get Is given A doll Sentence 2 A doll Is given To Get
  • 28. Imperative sentence Let + object + be + past participle Example : Active : Don’t kill your friend in class. Passive : Let your friend not be killed in class. Active : Open your eyes. Passive : Let your eyes be opened.
  • 29. In Active Voice sentence that use with think , consider , know , acknowledge , report , say , find , claim , understand , believe , hope , fear , feel can change into 2 forms of passive voice. Active : People say that she was jealous of Kim. Passive 1 : It was said that she was jealous of Kim. Passive 2 : She was said to be jealous of Kim.
  • 30. If Active voice sentence have infinitive without ‘to’ ,when you change into Passive Voice don’t forget to add Infinitive with ‘to’ . Active : We saw them go out. Passive : They were seen to go out. Active : He made us work. Passive : We were made to work. Except the word “Let” that is still use Infinitive without ‘to’ in Passive Voice . Active : You let me go. Passive : I were let go.

Her homework will have been finished by her. Rewrite the sentences in passive voice.
