Bio of an e-Learner
Name: Joe Anyone
Age: 35 years old
Education: Bachelor of Science in Architecture
Reason for e-Learning classes: to obtain
an endorsement in solar conductors
Joe wants the following from his
    instructor:

   To use technology – Joe works best
    with interactive and networked media, and
    lessons presented in a non-linear, multi-
    sensory fashion. This way, he can access
    lessons when he needs them, and challenge
    his senses with new material.
 To use known data – Joe wants
the facts. He does not want
information given to him that is
hearsay or relayed in useless
activities. He is very biased towards
experimental acts, and e-learning is very “down
to the level”.
   Joe discovered that he enjoys
    e-learning because he knows how
    to multi-task, and could focus on
    several lesson points at one time.

   He also has a slower reading speed, lower
    level of reading accuracy and shorter
    attention span. However, he found that the
    self-paced environment of e-learning enabled
    him to re-trace his steps if needed.
 He is also easily distracted, and
does not have a natural ability to
reflect on what he has learned.
However, with his preference for
pictures and videos, whether or
not they are the highest of quality,
he can re-direct himself when looking
at material, and use reflection questions
to help him process in e-Learning.
 Plus, his techno savvy side
makes it easy for him to interact
with the lessons, and his ability to
scan multiple documents and
glean information make him
adept at processing and learning
with interrupted information flow. He
  appreciates structure, so he creates it.
 E-learning provides an eclectic
room of learners, and the
opportunity to interact with one
another in entertaining and
exciting ways. Most peers
are from all walks of life. Joe appreciates
all different races and cultures, and varying
opinions and ideas, which make e-learning
for him ideal.
This is why Joe does well in an e-Learning
               environment
