WHAT WE BELIEVE
1. We believe the Bible to be the one and
only inspired Word of God.
2. We believe all men and women
are sinners and need to repent
and change their lifestyle for
salvation.
3. We believe in baptism by
immersion as a part of the plan
of salvation.
4. We practice the celebration of
the Lord’s Supper each Sunday.
5. We believe we have the
responsibility to share the
message of Jesus Christ in our
Community and throughout the
world.
Making a place for YOU!
2. TOM’S TWO MINUTE TIME OUT
IT’S ANOTHER NEW YEAR! HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT COULD ALREADY BE THE
YEAR 2016. SOUNDS SO FUTURISTIC, DOESN’T IT? AT LEAST TO US ONES
GETTING OLDER. I HEARD A GREAT WISE STATEMENT BACK IN THE 70’S WHEN I
WORKED AS A MAINTENANCE MAN AT APPALACHIAN CHRISTIAN VILLAGE. I WAS
A 20 SOMETHING AND AN “OLD” MAN IN HIS SIXTIES ONCE SAID TO ME,
“CHRISTMAS COMES FASTER NOW THAN FRIDAYS USED TO WHEN I WAS A
KID.” HOW TRUE.
AS WE ENTER A NEW YEAR I ASK MYSELF, “WHAT DO WE AS CHRISTIANS NEED
RIGHT NOW?” OF COURSE WE NEED MANY THINGS. WE NEED FAITH, HOPE AND
LOVE. WE NEED TO BELONG. WE HAVE PHYSICAL NEEDS. BUT THERE IS
SOMETHING WE REALLY NEED RIGHT NOW AS WE FACE A YEAR RIPE WITH
UNCERTAINTIES LIKE TERRORISM, VIOLENCE AND ALL MANNER OF THINGS
THAT THREATEN US. THAT THING WE NEED IS COURAGE. WE NEED TO STAND IN
THE FACE OF EVIL RUNNING RAMPANT IN OUR WORLD. WE ARE THE LIGHT,
JESUS TAUGHT, AND WE NEED TO HAVE COURAGE TO LET IT SHINE.
THIS MONTH WE WILL LOOK AT SEVERAL CHARACTERS IN THE BIBLE WHO
DISPLAYED EXTREME COURAGE WHEN THEIR WORLD NEEDED THEM TO. AND
AS WE EXAMINE THEIR LIVES, MY PRAYER IS THAT WE WILL FOLLOW THEIR
EXAMPLE AND BE COURAGEOUS IN OUR WORLD. IT NEEDS US TO BE.
SO, FEAR NOT! GOD IS WITH US! MAY WE ALL AT FIRST CHRISTIAN HAVE A
HAPPY….AND COURAGEOUS NEW YEAR! GOD BLESS EACH ONE.
I LOVE YOU ALL!

Gifts
After all the hustle and bustle of Christmas we can forget quickly
that giving is a cornerstone of our Faith. During the holidays we all
become so generous and giving with our attitudes, but why should
we stop. The gift from God (Jesus) remains with us all year long, so
I challenge everyone to embrace that mentality ourselves. Try and
turn the seasonal greetings and cheerfulness into a full time
approach with other. We are blessed beyond measures that God
doesn’t just love us in certain times of the year. So why don’t we
show the world how much love and generosity people still possess.
It starts with one person and can snowball into something big, so
let our FCC family here be the start of something big and create
spiritual gift giving year round.
Great Job to all the youth, for providing
Christmas for a family in need. You’ve made
their Holiday much brighter.
I’m so proud of each of you.
Hunter
