Physically tough, but not like granite Weak
Heavily jointed and porous Tiny pores which become
waterlogged.
Permeable, lack of rivers and lack of
erosion
Impermeable
Pure limestone CaCO3
Vulnerable to carbonation, freeze-
thaw.
Forms excarpment – dip slope, scarp
slope, dry valley...
E.g. White cliffs of Dover, South
Downs
Forms low flat ground called vales.
