Today you will learn about a method called think out loud. Specifically, you will learn how to conduct a think out loud study with a prototype.
After this session you will be able to:
Know when to use a think out loud study
Know the type of data you can collect with a think out loud
Create a think out loud study in UserZoom
Interpret the results of a think out loud

5. Think Out Loud Definition
Also known as ‘Thinking Aloud.’ “In a thinking aloud test,
you ask test participants to use the system while
continuously thinking out loud — that is, simply
verbalizing their thoughts as they move through the user
interface.”
"Thinking aloud may be the single most valuable usability engineering
method." I wrote this in my 1993 book, Usability Engineering, and I
stand by this assessment today.
6. Why use Think Out Loud
Understand the mental model of the user. Hear their
misconceptions about the design they are interacting
with.
It’s cheap, flexible, convincing, and easy to learn.
7. Challenges with Think Out Loud
Think out loud is not a natural thing to do?
Low sample size
Can be seen as subjective

the product development lifecycle.
14. Value Gained with Think Out Loud
1. Think out loud is a low cost method to maximize development investment.
2. Study completion time averages 15-20 minutes.
3. Study creation and launch typically 1-2 hours.
Easy to learn and very convincing for stakeholders
20. We decided to kick start a series of UX research with a Click Test,
targeting primarily prospects to examine the findability, and
