• Prostate cancer is the most frequently
diagnosed cancer among men
• About 30,000 men will die from prostate
cancer in 2013
• One in six men will get prostate cancer in
his lifetime
• African American men are two-and-half
times more likely to have prostate cancer
• The five-year survival rate for prostate
cancer is 99 percent if caught early
• In the U.S. today, there are more than 2.5
million prostate cancer survivors – the
largest group of cancer survivors in the
country.
3. What’s the Challenge?
Lace up your sneakers and join the ZERO Prostate Cancer Challenge. The premier
men’s health event series in America, the Challenge brings together
athletes, doctors, patients and the people who care about them to end prostate cancer.
Through run/walks, golf tournaments and endurance races, the ZERO Prostate Cancer
Challenge encourages men to take active role in their health and will raise more than
$3M for prostate cancer research, advocacy and early detection in 2013.

7. Local Impact
Half of the proceeds raised from the run benefit Los Padres (The Fathers) a
San Antonio-based charity founded by Dr. Johnny & Joni Reyna in 2013
with the vision of improving men’s health by creating community awareness
about prostate cancer prevention, screening and diagnosis, particularly the
need for early detection.
Los Padres Mission
• To encourage and empower men, their partners, family & friends to learn
about prostate cancer, particularly the need for early detection to reduce
deaths and increase treatment success
• To provide opportunities to promote a greater public understanding of
prostate cancer and to reduce associated stigma
• To host and promote community events to help improve knowledge about
the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer
