X-Trim was configured to consider the
machines from the plant, ensuring that
the generated solution corresponds to
the actual production process by
stages.
Planners were trained to be able to
easily change parameters (default and
by run) depending on the current
reality of the plant (new technologies
development, purchase of new
machines, etc.).
A report was designed to match the
format of production plans that are
handled in the shop-floor. This brings
the possibility to have a simple to
understand output for the machine
operators .

2. Key Benefits
Scrap reduction:
Using X-Trim Extrusa de Colombia S.A.
was able to reduce scrap from 23% to an
average of 13%, improving the quantity
of finished product.
More efficient machines:
Operator productivity due to the
reduction of knife changes:
approximately 50%. As a consequence,
Extrusa de Colombia S.A. had the
opportunity to increase their production
throughput, without changing the
machines.
Less programming time:
X-Trim iteration allows the planners to
get many alternative solutions in just
seconds.
Stock improvements:
The possibility to manage standard sizes
for their side reels, instead of producing
any additional width is a plus in the
process and allows Extrusa de
Colombia S.A. to align their stock with
