Senior UX Designer/Developer

The UX Global Practice enables Microsoft enterprise customers’ business innovation by creating
best-in-class user-centered design, focused on modern applications and devices. We are
searching for a UX Designer/Developer with a passion for learning, teaching others and working
with a great client-facing team. You are an evangelist and someone who has a proven track
record developing public or enterprise class applications on Microsoft platforms. You are
responsible for requirements analysis, rapid visual and interaction prototyping, visual and non-
visual component design and successful implementation and integration of applications and
services. You will be the link between design and technology, providing technical guidance
throughout the design process.
You will bring a deep understanding of one or more application platform technologies (Visual
Studio, Windows apps, Azure, Windows Phone) and strong working knowledge of HTML5, CSS
Pre Processors, and modern JavaScript Libraries such as Knockout. You will manage the content
deliverables from the beginning – making wireframes and design comps and teaching the
customer to create usable code that they utilize as they become more self-sufficient. You will
work with design teams and the client to set expectations for what can be created in varying and
reasonable time frames. Your ability to take constructive feedback, design user test cases, and
consider responsive design is a must.
This role requires the ability to engage in effective dialog with senior-level business and
technology decision makers. You must have extremely strong analytical, organizational, and
documentation skills. You understand the relationship between content, technology and design,
and have a pragmatic outlook in balancing technical constraints with the product’s purpose and
the expectations of its intended users. Since this is a client-facing role, your strong presentation
and communication skills will be required.
Required Skills
 Expert understanding of core front-end web technologies (.NET, JavaScript, WPF/XAML,
HTML, CSS)
 Solid experience developing with JavaScript/HTML/CSS/XAML
 Ability to write high-performance, reusable code
 Successful mobile applications in Windows Mobile, iOS or Android
 Experience troubleshooting cross-browser compatibility issues
 Experience in a commercial environment; pragmatic, down to earth approach
 Experience with data-driven product development: analytics, A/B testing, etc
 Empathy for the end user and should have understanding of UCD process
 Knowledge of version control systems (TFS preferred, Git good to have)
Desired Skills
 Work well with a design team and clients to deliver projects
 Ability to take design comps, wireframes, etc. and transform into functioning prototypes
and deliverable code
 Expertise in eliciting and receiving feedback, then making necessary changes
 Developing bleeding-edge designs that can be implemented & supported
 Setting expectations with designers regarding realistic implementation of design
 Writing test cases and interacting effectively with test teams
 Guiding the user acceptance testing process
 Coordinating work with global delivery teams
 Knowledge in Microsoft technologies, like Visual Studio, SharePoint, Blend, TFS
 Experience with frontend automation/build tools like Grunt JS, NPM
Portfolio Review Required – We will want to see a portfolio of your recent work.
Travel – much of your work will be client-facing, so travel can be as much as 75%, as the needs
of our customers and our business demand.
