Today will be talking about digital archives, and this in the context of the museum collection Present the concept of a living collection as a desired goal

Starting with the context: there have been a couple of recent reports in the Netherlands about the degree to which collections are represented digitally, and made available on-line. For conservation purposes, on-site is important – though for community would be great to exchange data, learn from eachother. Museums reported 81% of the collections to be accessible on-site

Acquisition and ingestion is where data about preservation and conservation would be integrated in the system ADS = archeology data service
Active: if you leave it it dies Open: because of digital nature, it can always be edited Sharing: you can’t do it alone, no time, no resources you learn from others
