Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with
as much detail as possible.
1. What are the men/women doing? (Dancing, sitting, swimming, etc.)
The women are playing strip poker, and then one of the women goes into a swimming
pool. This is all based at a house party then it switches to a shot of the band.

2. How are the men/women dressed? How much skin is revealed?
The women are dressed in underwear and the men are dressed the same, this represents
the sexuality of the male and female roles.

3. Are there more, fewer, or the same number of men as women?
There are more women than men, and they hover around the men, to represent there
attractiveness
sitting, standing

4. Describe the body language of the men/women: are they, gyrating,
mugging, etc.?
thw women are dancing around the men at the house party, however when they are
playing poker the seductively undress themselves, the men’s body language is very
relaxed and chilled throughout the video.

5. Do the men/women have power? How do you know?
The men have the power over the women because they are more dominant and
controlling and using the women for sex. However you could argue that the women have
the power over the men because they are using their sexuality to control them.

The message is that women should be available for men to use when they want to, and
that men are the more

Men demand sex from women and the women don’t protest against it, and the women
are objectified from the men. For example one of the lyrics is ‘won’t you get on your
knees’.

Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with
as much detail as possible.
1. What races do you see represented?
White parody of black males, and how white males try to be the other race but can’t
achieve it and look very comical.

2. Are there any dark skinned women shown? How many?
Yes in the video there is about 15 dark skinned women in a car also around the pool at the
end of the video. They are shown as a stereotype as they are just lay around the pool
being looked at.

3. What is the race of the person at the focus of the video?
The main guy in the video is white as the song is about how a white stereotype dosent fit
into a black stereotype. They are also complimenting the main white guy as they are.

4. What are the black/Latino/Asian/white/Native American/Pacific Islander people
doing?

They are complimenting the white guy for being fly. As the white guy tries to act black and
he does everything better than an actual black guy.

5. What’s the message of the song?
That a white person dosent really normally fit in with a black group of people and that
when a white person tries too they are shocked at what they can do. However this is rare.

Rock/hip-hop

Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with
as much detail as possible.
1. Describe any sexually explicit body language:
In many parts of the video Miley Cyrus is sat on a wrecking ball and is swinging on it.
She does this in a provocative way. This brings a massive sense of sexuality towards
women but in the wrong way.

2. Who is more sexualized – men or women? Both?
In this video women are sexualized more because of the way Miley Cyrus is dressed and
the way she walks and talks. Her body language is very sexual and she is mostly naked or
wears very little clothing throughout the video.

3. Are there sexually explicit lyrics or messages?
No there is not any explicit lyrics in the music video, however there are lots of explicit
images throughout the video.

4. How are subjects of the music video dressed?
Miley Cyrus is dressed in a nude bikini that gives the impression that she is naked.
Bringing the sexual side to the video. However it also shoes her venerability throughout
the video.

5. Describe the relationships between the men and women: Are they long or short term?
Casual or serious?
The relationship is represented as a long term relationship which the man has left.
However the video ids strongly orientated by a male gender with the theme of a building
site and throughout the video miley is holding a sledge hammer and wearing working
boots.

6. What’s the message of the song?
The message of the song is that a male has left her life and it is about how she feels when
he left.

7. What type of music is the song?

Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with
as much detail as possible.
1. Describe the products that are highlighted in the video: (cars, jewelry, clothes, etc.)
There are a lot of black guys buying fancy cars like porches, and they also buy suits which
look really posh. Also they buy many different jewellery like long gold chains and gold
rings and bracelets.

Not on any of the clothes or jewellery, however there are many different car names like
Bentley and Maserati. This shows the wealth of the people.

3. How is wealth defined in the video?
The wealth is defined throughout the song in the lyrics and in the actual video using
money, jewellery and cars. It represents money in a good way showing all the perks of the
money and not the negatives.

4. Are products mentioned in the song lyrics?
No, but words that mean being rich and wealthy are used throughout.

5. What’s the message of the song?
The message of the song is that he used to be poor and have no good clothes. But now he
has money he can buy all these nice things.

6. What type of music is the song?
Rap

as much detail as possible.
1. Describe any violent lyrics in the song:
In the song there arnt any lyrics that represent violence but they use a lot of soyund
effects that do E.G: BANG, BOOM, Smash.

The body language is very violent as they are always punching and fighting.

3. Describe any violent actions or weapons that are shown:
There are guns shown and knifes as the song is about a robbery.

4. Describe any self-mutilation or violence:
There are many fight scenes and violence scenes throughout the video.

5. What’s the message of the song?
The message of the song is that you can rob or steal something but you will always get
caught.

6. What type of music is the song?
Indie/rock/pop

Describe any sexually explicit body language: In many parts of the video Miley Cyrus is sat on a wrecking ball and is swinging on it. She does this in a provocative way. This brings a massive sense of sexuality towards women but in the wrong way. 2. Who is more sexualized – men or women? Both? In this video women are sexualized more because of the way Miley Cyrus is dressed and the way she walks and talks. No, but words that mean being rich and wealthy are used throughout. 5. What’s the message of the song? The message of the song is that he used to be poor and have no good clothes.
