2. Initial Reaction
• My first initial thoughts of this project were that I was a bit worried. I say worried because I didn’t
know what to expect and that I didn’t know if I could handle the work, it all seemed a lot. But once
reading through it and getting a better feel I didn’t feel as worried and just thought to take each
stage at a time and try and produce my best work. What I instantly thought was I could make a
magazine cover for either a band or hip hop artist. I thought of this because I have a strong passion
for music and listening to it. This means, in my opinion I can produce a strong piece of work for my
final project of this year. Another passion of mine and a product I cold make is a video game. The
game I would make, could be more for a mobile device because I haven't designed or even thought
about creating a product like that. I thought of this idea because I would say I have a very good
general knowledge on the subject.
• I would say that I’m good at designing ideas and then finally creating what the product would
finally look like. I say I’m good at this because that’s the part I enjoy the most throughout the
production. Another thing I would say I'm good at is the research and advancing my ideas further,
shaping my product further to its best potential.
• My opinions on the project are that I'm happy that we get to specialise in what we enjoy the most
and get to create whatever we like. The reason why I say this is because I want to have a chance to
improve my work from the last time I did. Gives me a chance to further my skills in the area I like. I
like that we get to I feel that the time frame is enough for me to create a very good piece of work
that will get me the grade I want. I feel that if I keep the same work ethic I have for the first months
of the course then I will do well and be happy with my work but stress it also a very big factor in
effecting my work ethic.

5. My first idea is a magazine. What I would be creating with this idea is a front cover, double
page spread and a website. When thinking of this idea my mind was going off in all
directions and it was difficult to try get them all down at once. I feel like this idea is very
viable to create and think it will probably be the more realistic product I could create.
Because everything that I have listed on the mind map I can create within college and out
of college. Also I would say this idea for me would be one of the more enjoyable products
due to the fact I found this product the most fun out of all the rotations. I haven't really
expanded many ideas on this mind map because I already have an idea of what I would
create for a magazine.

7. For my second idea, I was thinking of doing a video game. Again I had a lot of ideas within
the product itself such as different platforms, styles, designs and genres. If I was going to do
pick this for my fmp then I will have a lot of options to decide what would work the best. A
lot of the ideas I feel would be a bit hard to create because of my lack of experience with
video games. I only mention this because of the platforms I have mentioned and genres of
games would be a bit difficult to create with the time span given. But on the other hand, I
have listed some good ideas that I can easily do and create in college.

9. For my third idea I felt I should create some ideas for a short film. I'm not as confident in this
area and struggled in a way to think up idea for a short film and that’s why I don’t have much
for the mind map. But I know I got the more important stuff down that is involved in a the
production of film making. Those points I got were genre, advertisement and locations. My
thought process for this idea was a bit all over the place and took me a bit of time to fully
complete it. Much like the magazine cover, I could easily create the product because all the
equipment is at college and all the locations in my mind are easily accessible.

11. For my last mind map idea, I didn’t come up with many ideas for the cd cover which now
makes me doubt that I would use it for my production. I think I main reason for this would be
that its more of an add on to maybe doing a magazine cover then it being its own product.
Due to the fact that I have very little idea towards doing a cd cover. Maybe I will combine this
idea and my first idea to help develop my first idea even further. This would work because
that it wouldn’t be a problem creating the product during college time and possibly out of
college time. But on the other hand I don’t feel that passionate on this idea so I might not
even end up using it. I guess my thought process wasn’t the best during this idea and I did
spend a decent amount on time trying to think if things to add.

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
One thing I had noticed before doing this work is that the majority of all magazine covers, is
that they always have a big image of the main topic taking up the whole front cover. This has
been a very typical style of front covers for many years and does make a lot of sense to do it
this way because straight you get a face and a name of what content will be in the magazine.
Then again another recurring feature on magazine covers would be the cover lines places
around the main image on the front giving off information of what else the magazine
involves. Having cover lines stand out but still having the main image as the main attraction is
an important feature to have.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
I feel that m mood board will give me some good ideas on how to make and design a classic
style front cover. But again I want to have some old and new involved in my work because I
want to be able to create content that is relevant and different to other companies. By doing
this I can stand out more. I also added in some screenshots of websites also to remind me of
how the companies layout their information and present their work as an online web page. *

16. Pros and cons of my ideas
I would say that the pros to my ideas are that I've managed to come up with a decent variety of choices
in what I could create even though I have decided on my final idea. For example I could still add in a cd
design cover design to my production just to add more depths to my work. I also think the pros of my
ideas is that I give myself enough ideas to expand on later that could lead to more of an advanced idea.
For my cons of my ideas are that some of them are a bit far fetched and that they wouldn’t really be
possible to create. I’m directing this more towards the video game side and how advanced the platform
the game could be played on and designs of the game. All adds up to me not having a enough
experience, lack of equipment and time to finish the product.
