2. Shining opening
Shows production company.
Landscape-camera moves through landscape-shows setting-feels like we’re flying
through setting.
Forest and river-not many houses-not many people around-no one to help.
Camera tracks car on the road mostly-main characters in that car.
Simple music-non-diegetic sound-Simple music-strange static-like sound gets louder
then quieter.
Music gains strange sounds. Person screaming-foreshadowing events-goes back to first
music we heard.
Integrated scene-text over the top-scene is beginning of film-text scrolls up-all the
same font, size and colour, even the title.
Building seen at the end of scene-main place the characters will be.

3. The Ring opening
No background music-diegetic sound-TV static-noise in kitchen and upstairs.
Zooms on characters face.
Camera moves around doorframe-shows TV.
High angle downstairs-View from upstairs-shows where character is looking.
Ends with quick images then static-something happened to the character.
