12. Peroxide in the beauty industry
Peroxides or activators are oxidizing agents used with dye permanent,
semi-permanent, bleaching and tonalizadores. The peroxide is a catalytic
or conductive agent. The peroxide of hydrogen is the Activator used by
stylists commonly. It is used in products for coloring hair. It has a PH of
between 2.5 and 4.5. You need to mix it with ammonia which is an alkaline
compound to make it active. Ammonia is also found in the coloring
creams.
