PITCH)
OUR CHOICE OF SONG
At the beginning of our project we were stuck choosing between 3 songs. These were:
- Not3s – Bestfriend
- Kojo Funds – My 9ine
- J-Hus – Closed Doors.
After ruling out Closed Doors (group decision), we decided to use My 9ine, but discovered that
the lyrics did not match what we wanted to portray in our video. We ended up deciding to use
Bestfriend, but we found that our ideas were being heavily influenced by the original video for
the song. This resulted in us choosing to use Closed Doors. Although it was last choice, it is
still a very good song and has a better storyline than the other two.
THE NAME OF YOUR BAND/ARTISTE AND
WHY YOU CHOSE IT?
The name of our artiste is Juic3. The idea of the name ‘Juic3’ was influenced by an artiste
called Not3s who uses the number 3 in his name rather than an ‘E’. When researching, we
found out that Not3s has a 3 in his name because it is a representation of: Money notes,
singing notes and taking note of his music. However, we decided to use the number 3 to
express the freedom to be different and the creativity that rappers have in relation to music.
WHAT SONG YOU ARE GOING TO USE
AND WHY YOU CHOSE IT?
We chose this song because as young people from London, the song is relatable to us to
some extent. The slang he uses in the song links to us as music video producers because we
hear it in our everyday life.
We also chose this song because it has no music video and this puts us at a creative
advantage as a group because our music video will be based on original idea and as a result
make our video more unique.
‘Closed Doors’ is from J Hus’s album common sense, although J Hus has gained international
popularity, he's still part of a underground music genre this means that by us doing this song
we are helping to mould a underground genre and this will make our product even more
special because it will suit a niche market.
HOW YOU ARE GOING TO STYLE (BOTH
IN TERMS OF FASHION AND MEDIA
IMAGE) YOUR ARTIST AND WHY YOU
THINK THIS IS APPROPRIATE?
For costume, our artist will wear clothing that is viewed as typically urban such as slim fit
tracksuits and trainers. Clothes will probably include brands such as Nike and Adidas and
maybe others such as Trapstar. Our female lead character will be dressed very casually in
jeans, a simple top and trainers to give more of an effortless look.
WHAT GENRE YOU ARE GOING TO
FOLLOW AND WHY YOU CHOSE IT?
We chose UK rap because it’s very popular in the inner city where we all come from, it’s
listened to and enjoyed everyday. It is a very important part of the black society. It is another
way people let their voice and message get across and heard. We have chosen this genre
because we find this genre very creative and different. This is because even though it has a lot
of different bands and artiste in this category they all come across unique and different.
Although it is a mass genre, there are many niche genres that have collaborated to make it
what it is today.
WHO YOU WILL BE USING FOR YOUR
BAND/ARTISTE AND WHY YOU CHOSE
THEM?
Artiste: Rody Assan
We have decided to use Rody because of his
similar persona to our ‘trapfit’ style. This is
evident through his rough high top hairstyle and
bashy ripped jeans. Also, he is familiar with this
genre of music and we feel he could be a good
contribution to the video. He is a part of the age
group for our target audience and so to have
someone of this age range in the video will
influence them to watch it even more.
WHICH AUDIENCE WILL YOU BE
APPEALING TO AND WHY YOU THINK
THEY APPEAL TO THEM?
Our target audience for this song is young people that are ages 16-25. This is because people
with in this age range are able to relate to the lyrics of this song. We will appeal to our
audience by making our artist controversial. We can achieve this by make him do things that
challenge the norms of young society, owning crazy animals. We can also attract our target
audience by making our artists the people’s sweetheart and by doing this it will allow us to
attract a large female audience as a result his product will sell better.
HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PROMOTE
THEM?
We decided that our best form of promotion would be through social media platforms such
as twitter, instagram, Snapchat etc. As our target audience is 16-25 this is a good way to
promote our artist as people in these ranges are most likely to be very active on these
websites.
A BASIC IDEA OF WHAT YOU ARE GOING
TO DO FOR YOUR MUSIC VIDEO?
For our Performance, we have decided to use a dark black room in which the Artiste will be
sitting down on a chair, whilst singing towards the camera. The reason why we have decided
to use a dark black room is because the colour black is associated with mystery and secrets.
This is linked to the song as it is titled ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and so the idea that there is a
secret is relevant. Also, the song is very slow and has a low bass. Therefore, the depth of the
song will match the depth of the colour.
Performance: A boy who hides his relationship with a girl and keeps it secretive so that other
girls do not find out. (Player)

For our Performance, we have decided to use a dark black room in which the Artiste will be sitting down on a chair, whilst singing towards the camera. The reason why we have decided to use a dark black room is because the colour black is associated with mystery and secrets. This is linked to the song as it is titled ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and so the idea that there is a secret is relevant. Also, the song is very slow and has a low bass. Therefore, the depth of the song will match the depth of the colour. Performance: A boy who hides his relationship with a girl and keeps it secretive so that other girls do not find out. (Player)
