BIOGRAPHY
Elon Reeve Musk, born in Pretoria, South Africa, on June 28, 1971, is also listed
as the richest man in the world in 2022, a South African physicist, programmer and
entrepreneur, naturalized Canadian and American.
His parents, Errol Musk and Maye Haldeman, met in high school. He was a South
African engineer and she, a native of Canada who moved to Pretoria, South Africa
in 1950, is a nutritionist and model. They married in 1970 and within three years
had three children: Elon (June 28, 1971), Kimbal (September 20, 1972) and Tosca
Musk (July 20, 1974).
Elon Musk grew up in a large home with his siblings and several cousins. Maye
worked at home as a nutritional consultant for clients. On weekends his mother
also worked as a model, so her children hardly saw their parents and had a lot of
freedom to pursue their interests.
At age nine he began programming a Commodore VIC-20 that had 8 kilobytes of
RAM.7 At age ten he learned to program.8 At age twelve he designed his first
program, a space game called Blastar, and sold it for the equivalent of $500 to the
South African magazine PC and Office Technology.
In 1992 Elon was awarded a scholarship to study Economics and Physics at the
University of Pennsylvania. He received his degrees in Economics and Physics
from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He then enrolled at
Stanford to pursue a PhD but after two days he dropped out to start his own
company.10 In 1995 he intended to work for Netscape and went to their offices, but
did not dare to talk to anyone out of shyness.
Elon Musk is a very important person for the whole world, because of he had
several interesting inventions that have helped society in many ways and improve
their quality of life.
Such as the following:
• Through his Brand Tesla, Elon Musk has designed, manufactured and sold
electrical cars. With his brand he wanted to show that cars that use electricity could
be better, faster and funnier that the others using gasoline. Actually, Testa has not
only built electrical cars, they have also manufactured unlimitedly scalable clean
energy generation and storage products.
• Tesla has believed that the world will be better off the sooner we wean
ourselves off fossil fuels and move toward a zero-emissions future.
2. • His imagination has been out of this world. And not having enough with
inventing cars Testa has invented SpaceX in order to create the first space launch
vehicles that can literally travel through space and transport humans to Mars. He
made his first manned launch on May 30, 2020 on the Falcon rocket successfully,
placing astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken into orbit. They are also
developing the BFR or Starship, a ship that he plans to use to send human
colonies on future missions to Mars.
• As if that were not enough, He has developed starlink, a constellation of
satellites, through which it will provide broadband internet with global coverage.
• He has been annoyed by making payments with cash, because he
considered it insecure, so during one of his ramblings he imagined a world in which
cash was not needed to pay for your purchases. And that’s how PayPal was born,
an online payment system that supports money transfers between users and
serves as an electronic alternative to traditional payment methods such as checks
and money orders.
• Elon Musk hates traffic and the complications of getting around Los Angeles
roads inspired him to create "The Boring Company", a company that is building an
underground network of tunnels through different parts of the United States, from
which it will be possible to travel from one place to another in a matter of minutes.
According to Musk himself, the company's goal is to improve the speed of
excavation enough to establish an underground network of tunnels that is
economically feasible.
• Solar City was built to become the first solar energy producing park in the
United States. It is a supply company with huge profits and has been used to
supply Tesla with the free solar charging stations used by its customers.
