C A S E S T U DY : S TO K E P L AC E THE BRIEF Stoke Place hotel was keen t o p u t t o g e t h e r a s e r i e s o f e ve n t s w i t h the aim of gener ating press, d r aw i n g a d e s i r a bl e d e m o g r a p h i c a n d promoting the hire of the wh o l e h o t e l fo r p r i v a t e e ve n t s . THE CONCEPT Teati me Production created ‘ T h e W h i t e B l a c k b i r d ’ (www.thewhteblackbird.com) , a r e v i v a l o f t h e l av i s h c o u n t r y h o u s e par ti es last seen in the inter w a r ye a r s . G l a m o r o u s , d e c a d e n t a n d inventively themed, the par ti e s ( w h i c h a r e o n g o i n g ) h a p p e n fo u r times a year, taking over the w h o l e h o t e l a n d i t ’s g r o u n d s . THE RESULT The White Blackbird gener ate d p r o d i g i o u s a m o u n t s o f p r e s s f r o m i t ’s inaugur al par ty, and has cons i s t e n t ly c o n t i nu e d t o d o s o e ve r s i n c e . The event has dr awn a ver y d e s i r a bl e c r ow d o f A B C 1 e a r ly a d o p t e r s wor king predominantly in the m e d i a , a r t s a n d bu s i n e s s . F r o m t h e second event onwards the in c o m e g e n e r a t e d w a s s u f fi c i e n t t o c ove r all costs (including Teatime’s fe e ) , a n d i t h a s s i n c e c o n s i s t e n t ly g e n e r- ated a profit for Stoke Place . T h e r e h ave a l s o b e e n s e ve r a l e x c l u s i ve hires of the hotel by attende e s o f t h e W h i t e B l a c k b i r d e ve n t s . THE CONCEPT Teati me Production put toge t h e r a c o l l e c t i o n o f t h e m o s t u nu s u a l , interesting and eccentr ic Lon d o n d b a s e d p e r fo r m e r s a n d c o m m i s- sioned a ser ies of tailored pe r fo r m a n c e s . T h i s w a s a n i n t e r e s t i n g b r i e f , since tobacco adver tising law s p r o h i b i t a l m o s t e ve r y c a b a r e t c l i c h e . We responded with a line up t h a t i n c l u d e d u ke l e l e mu s i c h a l l s t y l e ver sions of char t hits, a flaut i s t b e a t b oxe r, a B u s y B e r ke l e y s t y l e dance troupe , shor t films wit h l i ve a c c o m p a n i m e n t , a d a n c i n g vo l c a n o and the wor ld’s smallest thea t r e . THE RESULT Client feedback was excellen t , t h e t o u r w a s d e s c r i b e d a s ‘ t h e m o s t successful, best looking ser ie s o f e ve n t s we ’ ve e ve r d o n e ’ . C A S E S T U DY : T H E C R E ATO R ’ S P R O J E C T THE BRIEF Our regular collabor ator Kar l S a d l e r D e s i g n w a s a s ke d t o p r o d u c e a n inter active installation ver sio n o f o n e o f h i s p h o t o g r a p h s fo r T h e Creator’s Project London exh i b i t i o n . THE CONCEPT Kar l chose to re-create a for e s t p h o t o g r a p h a s a r e a c t i ve s o u n d a n d light exper ience . Over three d ay s we bu i l t a l i v i n g i n d o o r fo r e s t complete with forest floor, fi t t e d w i t h s o u n d r e a c t i ve l i g h t s p r o- gr ammed by Kar l and a hidde n s o u n d s y s t e m . W h e n e x h i b i t i o n v i s i t o r s walked through the installatio n t h e s o u d w a s t r i g g e r e d a n d t h e l i g h t s wor ked in reaction to the mu s i c . THE RESULT Kar l was delighted with the fi n i s h e d i n s t a l l a t i o n a n d we h ave s i n c e wor ked on sever al commerci a l p r o j e c t s t o g e t h e r. V i c e a n d I n t e l (or ganiser s of the project) like t h e i n s t a l l a t i o n s o mu c h t h a t t h e t e a m was invited to exhibit at the To k yo l e g o f t h e e x h i b i t i o n . THE CONCEPT Wor king with exper imental c a t e r e r s B l a n c h a n d S h o c k , we d e v i s e d a ser ie s of highly theatr ical dec o n s t r u c t i o n s a n d r e - i nve n t i o n s o f t h e client’s food r ange . These we r e s e r ve d by t h e T B WA s t a f f i n t h e cour se of the meeting. The so l u t i o n w a s n o t o n ly a n i n t e r e s t i n g inter vention which ser ved to m a i n t a i n t h e c l i e n t ’s i n t e r e s t d u r i n g t h e meeting, it was also complete ly o n b r a n d fo r t h e T B WA m e t h o d o f ‘crea tive disr uption’. THE RESULT Initially contr acted for just o n e m e e t i n g , we h ave s i n c e c a t e r e d s e ve n in the same manner and have r e c e n t ly d e v i s e d a t r a n s p o r t a bl e ve r s i o n so that the setup can be tr an s p o r t e d t o o f f s i t e m e e t i n g s . C A S E S T U DY : T H E E F S THE BRIEF Teati me Production was appr o a c h e d by A P R c o n s u l t a n c y t o p r o d u c e the fir st Exper imental Food S o c i e t y e x h i b i t i o n a n d b a n q u e t a t t h e Br ick House , East London THE CONCEPT We wor ked with the venue , A P R a n d t h e e x h i b i t o r s t o p u t t o g e t h e r the daytime exhibition and th e e ve n i n g b a n q u e t t h a t fo l l owe d . T h i s was an enor mous logistical ch a l l e n g e , g i ve n t h a t we we r e d e a l i n g w i t h over 30 individual exhibitor s , t r y i n g t o m a i n t a i n t h e f l ow o f v i s i t o r s and look after an associated t a l k s c h e d u l e d u r i n g t h e d ay. S i m i l a r ly, i n the evening we managed six t e a m s o f c h e f s t h a t h a d n e ve r wo r ke d together before to feed 100 p e o p l e i n a ve nu e p a c ke d t o c a p a c i t y. THE RESULT The exhibition was seen by ove r 2 0 0 0 i n t h e c o u r s e o f i t ’s s i x h o u r r un, and the banquet seated 1 0 0 h a p py d i n e r s . We h ave b e e n a s ke d to retur n this year and will ta ke ove r t h e c r e a t i ve c o n c e p t o f t h e banquet in addition to our pr o d u c t i o n r o l e .
