2. Disclaimer Time
• Be very aware of what is said online.
• Agents have to adhere to at least four sets of compliance standards
when it comes to social media: state real estate commission policies,
NAR’s Code of Ethics, their broker’s policy, and the social media
website’s terms of service.
• Posts or comments that attack or threaten other people, language that
could be taken as defamation, and statements that reveal information
about a transaction are issues of concern. There are also issues related
to appropriate use of advertising and intellectual property infringement.

3. Facebook Updates…
• Facebook has begun testing a new option for users—they’re giving
some users the ability to choose people or pages whose posts would
always show up at the top of their News Feed.
• Recent algorithm changes includes an update to make posts from
friends more prominent, a tweak to decrease the number of “overly
promotional posts,” and an adjustment that included more real-time
content in the News Feed.
4. Instagram adds Call-To-Action
Buttons
• Instagram has added several new features to its advertising platform,
including call-to-action buttons such as Shop Now and Install Now.
5. Instagram Cont.
• Instagram is also working to make its sponsored posts even more relevant with
better targeting (a strategy imported from parent Facebook); by working with
select Facebook Marketing Partners to bring more advertisers onto its platform
through the company’s ads application programming interface.
• Instagram is also working to bring Instagram ads via Facebook’s ad buying
interfaces over the next few months.
6. Pinterest is allowing Buyable
Pins
• Noting that 80 percent of the people buying things via Pinterest are doing so via
mobile Buyable Pins are coming to iPhone and iPad later this month. Rollouts for
Android and desktop are planned in the future, but with no timetable yet.
7. Pinterest…
• Pinners can enter in their credit card or Apple Pay information, but the company is ensuring
the utmost safety and security of users’ vulnerable info. Customers will only enter payment
info and address once, and the app will ask to confirm password on major purchases.
• Pinterest has partnered with several top brands at launch, such as Macy’s, Neiman
Marcus and Nordstrom. Through a partnership with Shopify, mid-size and smaller
businesses such as including Madesmith and Poler Outdoor Stuff will also be able to sell
directly to Pinners.
• Via Shopify, Pinterest is hoping to be able to offer this service to individual sellers and
mom-and-pop stores — a possible Etsy combatant.
8. Pinterest… part 2
• payment information will be shared and stored. The data will be encrypted via
the payment partner and shared with merchants.
10. Warning: Facebook Scams
Cont.
• Once a user entered the credentials that were requested and clicked
“Log In,” data is posted to recovery.php, and then users are redirected
to this payment page, which asks for his/her full name, credit-card
details and billing address.
• If you see posts on your feed that appear similar to the Facebook post
we discussed here, whether it continues to bear the same URL or not,
it’s best to ignore it and warn your network about an ongoing spam
campaign.
12. Warning: Facebook Scams
Cont.
• Jovi Umawing of Malwarebytes Labs wrote in a blog post that users are
seeing notifications directing them to a fake Facebook for Business page, where they are
asked to “confirm to access Facebook for Business” by providing their email addresses or
phone numbers, passwords, security questions and the answers to those questions.
Once the information is obtained, victims are brought to another false page, which
reads (unedited):
Thank you for contacting Facebook for Business.
Please wait for reply message via email address.
We have accepted your submission for approval, we will contact you shortly for your
verification request, it may take up to 48h.
Sincerely,
Facebook for Business
