1. COVID-19 # Digital InnovationStrategy #New Growthsprouts # Next decade#
Firstly,Iwouldliketoextendmyprofoundthankstoall the LinkedInusers whohassentme messages
in addition, their comments for my previous article. At Infosys,we have great Leaders with multiple
qualitieswhere Ihave learntoverthe last decade from them,to support, guide, mentorandnurture
individuals.Timesare differentnowwithCOVID-19;anycompanywithaleadershipvisionshouldlook
past this dark-arc and come out of the crisis. Companies cannot just sit and wait until the COVID-19
passes away instead should Engage, Explore, Explain, Execute, Evaluate and Evolve from this Crisis
with a better framework. In fact, crisis inwhich outcome is extremely unfair is still good as it can be
constructive and we can come out of it with better resilience.
This article is about “Digital Innovation Strategy” which has to be acquired and implemented by
companiesinanexponentiallyfastestway.Mostof the industriesnow are governedinLinearfashion
be it Government,Healthcare andSupplychain etc. persay. Therefore, inthisLinearway we cannot
close the course of actionuntilthe previousoneiscompletedandthe outcomeislethargic.Inaddition,
one does not know the whole cycle of food chain from the Top Executives to the little
soldiers/vendors/third party providers etc. in the company. Hence, any industry should move into
digitisation and map all the voids where your company can function in a non-linear fashion and the
outcome will be much faster response mechanisms by digitising as many steps as possible. Per say
traditional processes relay mostly on the people to functionin the critical path of processing which
are constrained by the rate at which we can train, organise and deploy human labour. Moreover,
traditional processes deliver decreasing returns as they scale. On the contrary, digital systems be
scaled-up massively without such constraints, at virtually infinite rate.
Details Traditional processes Digitisation
Outcome Depends on the previous action Faster response mechanism
Food chain It’s an ocean with unknown fishes In this ocean, even Deep blue whale
knows the nemo fish.
People Train, organise and too hardto deploy. No constraints
Scalability Decreasing returns as they scale No constraintsatvirtually infinite rate.
2. My observations and recommendations, Zooming into the near future any company to be a Leader
with Vision should accelerate and can adopt to the below ~timelines:
1-Year down the line: check, evaluate, estimate and plan:
Initiation into Digital Innovation
Opportunities
Threats, Data Protection & Security
New growth sprouts into AI, IOT, 5G, Autonomous cars, E-commerce, etc.
=>5-Years down the line: Re-check, estimate, plan, evaluate and evolve:
Revisit your old strategies
Implement new strategies if necessary
New business models w.r.t the outcome based for customer satisfaction.
Poly cloud and Data Protection & Security.
After 5 years, the world is going to be very different. We might have a completely digitised world
hence AIcan take overall the manual tasks. Whoeverhave the historicdatawe can convertthat into
digitised data and converting that into AI, by simply adding AI to the digitally available data.
=>10-Years down the line:
AI and Robotics will be part of the ordinary landscape of the normal population.
Revisit your old strategies + new strategies or Robotised strategies generation.
AI : Estimate @ ~ 10 Billion revenue
Robots will be helping humans : >~ 30 Million in population
Uber with drones.
Autonomous vehicle market : Estimate @ ~ 3 Trillion revenue
Thisdepiction ismypresumption only likeinstarwarmovies, well the movie wasmade evenbeforeI
wasborn, andI learntRobotics adecade ago, whathaschangedfromthento now?Sensors werevery
expensive then but now we can see LIDARS used in the new iPhone, we have to prepare ourselves
into the future. Therefore, if you want your company to be a visionary leader become a part of the
digitisedworld andmove intothe nextgenerationStar. On a closingnote regardlessof the industry,
companies that win in the digital era are those that take shortest path for best possible results.PS:
