Scene 1<br />(Nosrep looking at the tadpoles)<br />Narrator: This is the story of Nosrep, it is the story about how every child is special every child has a gift. Some people might look and see someone a little strange but what you should see is a gift. This story happens everyday somewhere around the world. Let me introduce to you Nosrep. This is his story. Its start when he is looking down at the tadpoles.<br />Narrator: Nosrep is looking down at the tadpoles, he collects the tadpoles in his water bottle. Yes, the one that he drinks from. <br />(Nosrep arrives home at puts the tadpoles)<br />Mother: Nosrep! Time for school!!! <br />Narrator: Nosrep is on the school bus he hates going to school. he enters with interepidation  classroom and finds out there is a test. He starts the test, but then he starts to imagine things….<br />(Video clip of the plants and numbers) <br />school bell rings <br />Narrator: After the test, Nosrep is heads home.<br />Scene 2 Shadow Puppet<br />Narrator: Nosrep fights his friends at school. After school, he goes home.<br />Nosrep: (With depressed voice) Mom, I’m home.<br />Mother: [Goes to the door] Oh, my son! [Kiss on his cheek] How is the school today--- [see Nosrep’s face and get surprised] OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wound on your head!!!!!! [Kneel and put her hands on the Nosrep’s shoulder and shake his body] What happened to you? Why are you bleeding? <br />Nosrep: Blood? Am I bleeding? (He wiped blood on his head) Ohhoo, I just fought my friends. There was a trouble between us. That’s it.<br />Mother: What? You are not okay at all! Let’s treat wound first. [Find the Band-Aid in the first-aid kit and put it on Nosrep’s head.]<br />Mother: Well, now you have to tell me what happened with your friends.<br />Nosrep: (With anger) I just tried to pass the ball!!<br />Mother: What? I can’t understand if you say like that. [Clap her hands] Ok, you tried to pass the ball. Then why your friends and you fight?  Calm down and tell me more specific.<br />Nosrep: ….. [Shake his head and tell nothing]<br />Mother: [Kneel and put her hands on the Nosrep’s shoulder] (with calm voice) Son, how many times I have told you that fighting is bad? I believe you won’t fight your friends anymore. [Hit the bottom of Nosrep and stand] Go washroom and clean your body.<br />Narrator: The next day, Nosrep goes to school and gets his report card. The grade is really really bad. He wants to hide it from his parents so he puts the report card in the bag. Of course, he doesn’t show it to his parents at home.<br />- At night - <br />Narrator: Nosrep’s bag is laid on his bed. The report card is falls from the bag. His father comes in his room and finds the report card! <br />Father: What is it? [picks up the paper and check what it is] Ohhooo~ son’s report. [look, the head moves up and down] (with anger) Math, 3!!! English, ZERO!!!!  [Go to the living room and find Nosrep] Nosrep!!! Nosrep!!!! Come here!!!<br />Nosrep: Yes, dad??? Did you call me??<br />Father: [Sit sofa] Sit here and explain about it to me!!!! [Thrust the report card toward Nosrep’s face and Shake]<br />Nosrep: [Freeze and look down] ………….. <br />Brother: [runs toward them and block Nosrep] Father!!! Don’t punish Nosrep, please!!!! He is just a little kid who like playing cricket!!! <br />Father: Shut up!!!!! [Point Nosrep] Nosrep, explain, about, your, grade!!!!<br />Nosrep: [Freeze and look down] ………….. <br />Father: What’s the matter with you!! It seems like there are many many problems around you!!!! <br />Nosrep: Sorry, Dad…<br />Father: [Shake head] You shouldn’t do this way. [Put hands on the waist] I will send you to the boarding school, okay? <br />Nosrep: Please, dad!!! I don’t want to go there. I like my school!!! I will study hard next semester and get a good grade!!! I promise you!!! [rub his hands]<br />Brother:  [rub his hands] Yes, dad!! This is too harsh for Nosrep!!! Give him a chance!!!<br />Father: Shut up!! I will not change my mind. So go to your room and think what you’ve done! <br />Mom: Please, husband, consider letting him stay.<br />Nosrep: Please, dad, I love this family. I love you. I will be a good boy. Let me stay here.<br />Brother: Let him stay, dad!!<br />Father: No! I made up my mind. You are going.<br />Narrator: Nosrep is sent away.<br />Shadow Puppets: he is leaving home<br />Scene 3 <br />Narrator: Nosrep has left home, Away from family, Nosrep feels very lonely. Furthermore, his teachers and classmates aren’t very welcoming. Nosrep wants to get out of here. He feels very depressed. <br />All his teachers and classmates are always laughing at him and calling him bad names. <br />Faces of teachers and students towards the audience with bad music  <br />Narrator: A new art teacher arrives at school noticed what is causing all of Nosrep’s problems. Art teacher goes to see his parents. <br />Shadow Puppet<br />Scene 4<br />Teacher talking to Nosrep’s parents <br />Characters: Teacher, Nosrep’s Dad, Nosrep’s Mom and Nosrep’s Brother. <br />(Teacher arrives at Nosrep’s home)<br />Mom: Yes?<br />Teacher: Hello, I teach at Nosrep’s school. <br />Mom: Oh, please come in. <br />(Teacher walks in)(Brother brings Nosrep’s books from 3rd grade)<br />Teacher: Are these all Nosrep’s books?<br />Mom: Yes. <br />(Teacher looks thought his books and tries to find a pattern)<br />(Teacher finds a painting)<br />Teacher: Who drew this?<br />Mom: Nosrep did.  Of course, he is very interested in painting. <br />(Teacher goes in to Nosrep’s room and finds all the paintings)<br />(Finds the book showing Nosrep going away from this family)<br />Teacher: Why? Why did you send to away?<br />Dad: We had no other option. <br />Dad: Last year he failed in 3rd grade. Can you believe it? 3rd grade! On top of that, no signs on improvements. <br />Dad: Look at my elder son he is the top of his class. And Nosrep.........<br />Teacher: Do you know what his problem is?<br />Dad: Problem? Look at his attitude towards studies towards everything. <br />Dad: On top of that, he doesn't listed to anyone. <br />Teacher: No, I am asking his problem, you are telling me the symptoms. <br />Teacher: You are telling me that he had a fever, but I am asking why does he have a fever. <br />Dad: (Looking confused) Then you tell, if you think you know everything. <br />Teacher: Have you seen any patterns in his mistakes, or something he repeats over and over?<br />Dad: Ha what mistakes huh? Its all just mistakes. <br />Teacher: Then sir you cant se the patterns.<br />(Teacher take out Nosrep’s books)<br />Teacher: Here, take a look. <br />Teacher: Here “B” Instead of “D” and “D” instead of “B”. Meaning he confuses between similar looking letters. <br />Teacher: And here “S” and “R” are upside-down. A lot of letters are upside-down. <br />Teacher: See? Mirror imaging. <br />Teacher: “Animal” same mistake three times on the same page. Meaning he doesn't remember one wrong spelling. <br />Teacher: And the mixes up with similar sounds of words, for exapmle here “TOP” becomes “POT”, “SOLID” becomes “SOILED” <br />Teacher: Why dose he do this? Is he lazy? Dumb?<br />Teacher: No. In my opinion he has trouble recognizing similar letters. <br />Teacher: When people reap “APPLE” you make a image of an apple in your mind. <br />Teacher: But perhaps Nosrep cant read the word, and so can understand the word or what it means.  <br />Teacher: To read and write, you have to understand a sound and shaping of the letters. <br />Teacher: And this need Nosrep can’t do this. <br />Dad: Its nothing like that. He’s just avoiding his studies. <br />(Teacher brings a box.)<br />Teacher: Please read this sir. <br />Dad: How am i supposed to read this, its in Egyptian. <br />Teacher: No, you can do it, give it a try. <br />Dad: Don’t talk nonsense, how can I read this?<br />Teacher: Now, sir you are misbehaving, to avoid reading it. You are being naughty. <br />(Silence, Dad realizes that the teacher was right)<br />Teacher: Nosrep would feel just like how you felt sir. <br />Teacher: He can’t recognize the letters. <br />(Pause)<br />Teacher: This problem is called Dyslexia. <br />Teacher: Sometimes with Dyslexia some more problems can occur, like confusion in understanding multiple instruction. <br />Teacher: Dose Nosrep have difficulty time in in shoe laces? <br />Mom: Yes. <br />Teacher: And dose he have difficulty catching a ball when you throw it at him?<br />Brother: He never judges the ball correctly. <br />Teacher: Thats is because he cant estimate the size, distance speed. <br />Teacher: By the time he figures that out, he’s already lost the ball. <br />Teacher: Just imagine, a kid. Who can’t do all the daily thing the others can do effortlessly. <br />Teacher: Imagine all the things he must be going thorough. <br />Teacher: He tries to cover up his problems with his attitude. <br />Teacher: Why tell the world that I cant do this. Why no just say I don't want to? <br />Teacher: All learned from the grown-ups. <br />Teacher: Now even his spirit has cracked, he has totally stopped painting. <br />(Mother and Brother shocked)<br />Teacher: Its a very sad story. <br />Mom: But why Nosrep? <br />Teacher: There is no answer to that. <br />Teacher: Dyslexia is a neurological disorder and can be caused mine genetics. <br />Dad: So, you are telling us that my son is mentally retarded? <br />Teacher: A very strange man you are. <br />Teacher: Here look at this, all these great colorful ideas. These are far beyond your and mine imagination. <br />Dad: How will he succeed form this? <br />Teacher: Why are you looking to success? <br />Dad: Then what else to look for?<br />Dad: What will he become in his life. <br />Dad: What value will he have in this competitive world. <br />Dad: Should I keep him in my house all his life? If that is what you are saying. <br />Teacher: Yes, I know the outside is a race.<br />Teacher: Every one wants to grow world class brains in their children's. <br />Teacher: Everyone wants a genius child, doctors, astronauts, mathematicians. <br />Teacher: 95% is just not good enough for some parents, anything below is just shameless. <br />Teacher: Why, isn’t that right?<br />Teacher: Why don’t you understand, every child is special. Every child has own dreams, capacities, achievements and interests that they desire.  <br />Teacher: But no. <br />Teacher: You just want to push them to their limits, even if it means stealing happiness from their life. Do you really want that for Nosrep?<br />         (With no answer teacher leves)<br />(Nosreps learn the point the teacher has been trying to tell and the teacher storms out of the house without saying anything)<br />Scene 5<br />Art Teacher:<br />Friends today I will tell you a story. <br />There was a boy, don’t ask me where? He had trouble reading! Even though he tried really hard, he never knew that y comes after x. Alphabets were his enemies, they would dance in front of his eyes! The letters would fly around and irritate him all the time! Reading and writing would make him tired. Who would he tell his sad story to? His brain was empty and on top of that there was ABC DISCO. <br />One day he failed, people called him stupid and dumb but the poor boy took everything courageously and fought the world bravely. But one day the sun came up for him! When the whole world heard his theory everyone loved him! Ok then! Guess?! Who is it? Who is this boy?<br />(Albert Einstein face to the audience)<br />Student:<br />ALBERT EINSTEIN! <br />Art Teacher: <br />Yes! It’s Albert Einstein! Everyone knows him. He shocked the world with his theory. He even got awarded a noble prize in his life! <br />Let me show you something else!<br />( We Hold up a sketch of a helicopter )<br />Students:<br />IT’S A HELICOPTER!! <br />Art teacher:<br />NO, no, no. It’s not just ANY helicopter. It’s the helicopter that the great Leonardo Da Vinci sketched. He made the working sketch of the helicopter. Before the helicopter was even invented! <br />He used to write words babackwards <br />Does anyone understand? <br />Students:<br />NO<br />Art Teacher:<br />Holds up mirror kids start reading <br />Nosrep, turn the lights on. Who gave people electricity?<br />Nosrep:<br />Edison<br />Art Teacher:<br />Yes, it was Edison; even Thomas Edison had trouble reading and writing. <br />There are others too… Picasso he thought the number 7 was a upside down nose. Even Walt Disney! Agatha Kristy! Did you know that?<br />Wait, why am I telling you all of this. <br />Because I want you guys to know that there are so many people in the world that looked at the world in a COMPLETE DIFFERENCE PERSPECTIVES and gave the world a lot of success. I want you to know that everyone in this world is different, and these famous people still became successful in life because they are DIFFERENT. <br />So today in class, we will all create something interesting, something from your own perspective! Let’s go outside nearby the lake! <br />Art Teacher:<br />Nosrep, you stay for a while. Do you know there’s one person I didn’t tell you guys, it’s me. Even I had trouble reading and writing, my dad never understood me, he thought I was being naughty on purpose. He thought I was an idiot, he thought I wouldn’t be able to do anything in life. Today what I am, I’m right in front of you. <br />Let’s go out. <br />Nosrep:<br />Did you go to my house? <br />(They leave )<br />Scene 6<br />Narrator: Everyday after school, the art teacher becomes a tutor and gives a class to Nosrep. He teaches Nosrep English, Math and Art. As time goes by, Nosrep’s skills are improved and improved. He writes a diary, solves math problems and learns lots of artists and paintings. Finally, he gets a good grade on his exam.<br />

The grade is really really bad. He wants to hide it from his parents so he puts the report card in the bag. Of course, he doesn’t show it to his parents at home.<br />- At night - <br />Narrator: Nosrep’s bag is laid on his bed. The report card is falls from the bag. His father comes in his room and finds the report card! <br />Father: What is it? [picks up the paper and check what it is] Ohhooo~ son’s report. [look, the head moves up and down] (with anger) Math, 3!!! English, ZERO!!!! [Go to the living room and find Nosrep] Nosrep!!! Nosrep!!!! Come here!!!<br />Nosrep: Yes, dad??? Did you call me??<br />Father: [Sit sofa] Sit here and explain about it to me!!!! Art teacher goes to see his parents. <br />Shadow Puppet<br />Scene 4<br />Teacher talking to Nosrep’s parents <br />Characters: Teacher, Nosrep’s Dad, Nosrep’s Mom and Nosrep’s Brother. <br />(Teacher arrives at Nosrep’s home)<br />Mom: Yes?<br />Teacher: Hello, I teach at Nosrep’s school. <br />Mom: Oh, please come in. <br />(Teacher walks in)(Brother brings Nosrep’s books from 3rd grade)<br />Teacher: Are these all Nosrep’s books?<br />Mom: Yes. <br />(Teacher looks thought his books and tries to find a pattern)<br />(Teacher finds a painting)<br />Teacher: Who drew this?<br />Mom: Nosrep did. Of course, he is very interested in painting. <br />(Teacher goes in to Nosrep’s room and finds all the paintings)<br />(Finds the book showing Nosrep going away from this family)<br />Teacher: Why? Why did you send to away?<br />Dad: We had no other option. <br />Dad: Last year he failed in 3rd grade. Can you believe it? 3rd grade! On top of that, no signs on improvements. <br />Dad: Look at my elder son he is the top of his class. And Nosrep.........<br />Teacher: Do you know what his problem is?<br />Dad: Problem? Meaning he confuses between similar looking letters. <br />Teacher: And here “S” and “R” are upside-down. A lot of letters are upside-down. <br />Teacher: See? Mirror imaging. <br />Teacher: “Animal” same mistake three times on the same page. Meaning he doesn't remember one wrong spelling. <br />Teacher: And the mixes up with similar sounds of words, for exapmle here “TOP” becomes “POT”, “SOLID” becomes “SOILED” <br />Teacher: Why dose he do this? Is he lazy? Dumb?<br />Teacher: No. In my opinion he has trouble recognizing similar letters. <br />Teacher: When people reap “APPLE” you make a image of an apple in your mind. <br />Teacher: But perhaps Nosrep cant read the word, and so can understand the word or what it means. <br />Teacher: To read and write, you have to understand a sound and shaping of the letters. <br />Teacher: And this need Nosrep can’t do this. <br />Dad: Its nothing like that. You are being naughty. <br />(Silence, Dad realizes that the teacher was right)<br />Teacher: Nosrep would feel just like how you felt sir. <br />Teacher: He can’t recognize the letters. <br />(Pause)<br />Teacher: This problem is called Dyslexia. <br />Teacher: Sometimes with Dyslexia some more problems can occur, like confusion in understanding multiple instruction. <br />Teacher: Dose Nosrep have difficulty time in in shoe laces? <br />Mom: Yes. <br />Teacher: And dose he have difficulty catching a ball when you throw it at him?<br />Brother: He never judges the ball correctly. <br />Teacher: Thats is because he cant estimate the size, distance speed. <br />Teacher: By the time he figures that out, he’s already lost the ball. <br />Teacher: Just imagine, a kid. Who can’t do all the daily thing the others can do effortlessly. <br />Teacher: Imagine all the things he must be going thorough. <br />Teacher: He tries to cover up his problems with his attitude. <br />Teacher: Why tell the world that I cant do this. Why no just say I don't want to? <br />Teacher: All learned from the grown-ups. <br />Teacher: Now even his spirit has cracked, he has totally stopped painting. <br />(Mother and Brother shocked)<br />Teacher: Its a very sad story. <br />Mom: But why Nosrep? <br />Teacher: There is no answer to that. <br />Teacher: Dyslexia is a neurological disorder and can be caused mine genetics. <br />Dad: So, you are telling us that my son is mentally retarded? <br />Teacher: A very strange man you are. <br />Teacher: Here look at this, all these great colorful ideas. He had trouble reading! Even though he tried really hard, he never knew that y comes after x. Alphabets were his enemies, they would dance in front of his eyes! The letters would fly around and irritate him all the time! Reading and writing would make him tired. Who would he tell his sad story to? His brain was empty and on top of that there was ABC DISCO. <br />One day he failed, people called him stupid and dumb but the poor boy took everything courageously and fought the world bravely. But one day the sun came up for him! When the whole world heard his theory everyone loved him! Ok then! Guess?! Who is it? He teaches Nosrep English, Math and Art. As time goes by, Nosrep’s skills are improved and improved. He writes a diary, solves math problems and learns lots of artists and paintings. Finally, he gets a good grade on his exam.<br />
