Dear Parents, Teachers/Guidance Counselors/Youth Development Professionals:
Summer Stars Camp for the Performing Arts provides deserving youth, ages 12 – 15, an intensive experience in the
performing arts, giving campers the opportunity to explore and develop their talents. The Camp will take August 11-
20, 2012. We will run our program at the Northfield Mt. Hermon School in Northfield, MA.
Summer Stars offers small group programs in improvisational acting, blues performance, dance, musical theater/choral
singing, set design, juggling, drumming and much more. Through our work together, campers build a level of
cooperation and respect that develops a real community atmosphere. We are more than a community – we become a
family.
As the Camp is fully funded by a variety of donors, there is no charge to participants, and transportation is provided.
The ideal candidate is a boy or girl who shows great interest and potential in the performing arts but who may not have
the opportunities to fully explore and develop their talent due to financial need or lack of community resources. As a
professional, you are in a position to identify promising candidates who would benefit from this unique experience.
The Camp is limited to 100 spots. Feel free to make copies of applications and distribute to others in your field that
may know of potential candidates. If you would like to have a copy emailed to you or someone else, please let us
know.
Completed applications, including one recommendation form, are due by May 1 and can be sent to: Nina Biggar Del
Vecchio, 138 Huron Avenue, #3, Cambridge, MA 02138. A committee will review the applications and select the
group of finalists by June 1. At that time we will send out health forms and more specific information.
