A kangaroo is an animal found only in
Australia, although it has a smaller relative,
called a wallaby, which lives on the Australian
island of Tasmania and also in New Guinea.
Kangaroos eat grass and plants. They
have short front legs, but very long and very
strong back legs and a tail. These are used for
sitting up and for jumping. Kangaroos have
been known to make forward jumps of over
eight meters, and leap across fences more
than three meters high. They can also run at
speeds of over 45 kilometers per hour.

Report text is a text which presents
information about something, as it is. It is as
a result of systematic observation and
analysis
Sebuah teks yang menggambarkan tentang
semua hal yang berkaitan dengan sebuah benda
secara umum. Teks ini biasanya dirujuk dari
sebuah hasil penelitian dan analisis yang
sistematis.
DEFINITION
SOCIAL FUNCTION
The purpose of a report text is to present information
about something generally. It generally describes the
way things are with reference to arrange of natural,
man- made and social phenomenon in our
environment, such as: mammals, the planets, rocks,
plants, countries of region, cultures, transportations,
and so on .
Tujuan report text adalah untuk menyampaikan
informasi tentang sesuatu secara umum. Informasi
yang dijelaskan dalam report text, biasanya bersifat
umum, baik itu alamiah ataupun buatan. Seperti;
binatang mamalia, planet, batu, tumbuhan, negara,
budaya, transportasi dan lain sebagainya.
GENERIC STRUCTURE
General Classification
A general classification is a part that state classification
of general aspect of things, such as: animals, public
places, plants, etc. It will be discussed in general.
Description
This part gives describing of the things which will be
discussed in detail, in terms of: parts (and their function),
qualities, habits and behavior.
LANGUAGE FEATURE
• Use of general nouns
ex : animal, vertebrates
• Use of relating verbs
ex : is, are, has
• Use of timeless present tense to indicate
usualness
ex : cow usually eat grass and plants
• Use of action verbs when describing
behavior
ex : emus can not fly
• Use of technical terms
ex : kangaroos are marsupials

The largest kangaroos are the Great Grey Kangaroo and the Red
Kangaroo. Adult grow to a length of 1.60 meters and weigh over 90 kilos.
Kangaroos are marsupials. This means that the female kangaroo has
an external pouch on the front of her body. A baby kangaroo is very tiny
when it is born, and it crawls at once into this pouch where it spends its
first five months of life.

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air
extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The
most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous
destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 mph. They
can destroy large buildings, uproot trees and hurl
vehicles hundreds of yards. They can also drive straw
into trees. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile
wide to 50 miles long. In an average year, 1000
tornadoes are reported nationwide.
Tornadoes can happen at any time of the year
and at anytime of the day. In the southern states, peak
tornado season is from March through May. Peak
times for tornadoes in the northern states are during
the summer. A few southern states have a second
peak time for tornado outbreaks in the fall. Tornadoes
are most likely to occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

  • 8. SOCIAL FUNCTION The purpose of a report text is to present information about something generally. It generally describes the way things are with reference to arrange of natural, man- made and social phenomenon in our environment, such as: mammals, the planets, rocks, plants, countries of region, cultures, transportations, and so on . Tujuan report text adalah untuk menyampaikan informasi tentang sesuatu secara umum. Informasi yang dijelaskan dalam report text, biasanya bersifat umum, baik itu alamiah ataupun buatan. Seperti; binatang mamalia, planet, batu, tumbuhan, negara, budaya, transportasi dan lain sebagainya.

The largest kangaroos are the Great Grey Kangaroo and the Red Kangaroo. Adult grow to a length of 1.60 meters and weigh over 90 kilos. Kangaroos are marsupials. This means that the female kangaroo has an external pouch on the front of her body. A baby kangaroo is very tiny when it is born, and it crawls at once into this pouch where it spends its first five months of life.   • 12. A tornado is a violent rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 mph. They can destroy large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards. They can also drive straw into trees. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile wide to 50 miles long. In an average year, 1000 tornadoes are reported nationwide. Tornadoes can happen at any time of the year and at anytime of the day. In the southern states, peak tornado season is from March through May. Peak times for tornadoes in the northern states are during the summer. A few southern states have a second peak time for tornado outbreaks in the fall. Tornadoes are most likely to occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tornadoes
