(CPI) measures monthly
changes in prices for a range of
consumer products. Changes in
the CPI record the rate of
inflation. The CPI can also be
used as a cost-of-living index.

The inflation formula is:
Inflation rate = [(CPI this year – CPI last
year)/CPI last year] 100.
8. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has started
using CPI-combined as the sole inflation
measure for the purpose of monetary policy.
As per the agreement on Monetary Policy
Framework between the Government and the
RBI dated February 20, 2015 the sole of
