Introduction to LSAA 1987

 Why such act came into being.

 Article 39-A of the Constitution of India and Legal Aid.

 Sec-304(1) of Criminal Procedure Code.

 Supreme Court on Legal Aid.

 Hussainara Khatoon v. State of Bihar 1980(1) SCC 81.

 Prisoners were languishing in jails in Bihar for years
  together. No lawyer for them to argue for them.

Authorities under LSAA,1987..
• Article -21 of supreme court encompasses free
  legal aid to be given to the needy impliedly.
• Chapter-II of the said Act to be seen.
• Central authority to be created(NLSA).
• CJI+ Serving/retired judge of SC to be
  nominated by President as executive chairman
  +such other members to be appointed by CG
  along with CJI.
