MY Profiling - Overview

  1. ----- Meeting Notes (25/01/16 12:28) ----- Our original product was an online pictorial logbook called My Profiling. This product continues to be our main point of engagement and continues to be improved through customer feedback. We added the RPL tool sometime ago and have been improving the capability and reporting. RPL as a paper based proposition is unwieldy and labor intensive, My RPL offers a unique paperless solution to save RTO's time and money. RPL can be profitable! Because we added RPL, we need to provide an RTO with the ability to add RPL questions. This lead to the Assessment matrix, which now allows an RTO to, add different types of questions and checklists for different purposes. The Training Plan option came about because we where finding that to get consistent student and employer information, we needed to go to straight to the horses mouth!!! i.e. DET/STS. So we created the training plan generator to accept a spreadsheet upload that you download from DET/STS. This can also connect to SMS's via a electronic doorway to eliminate data entry. The training plan opened opportunity to connect with the other My Profiling options and be updated automatically to provide an easily accessible up to date training plan for student employer and trainer to engage in. Profiling received updates including: supervisor app to validate entries and sign off on WPSA The ability for student to upload pictures and videos.
  2. My profiling is the most comprehensive profiling tools available in Australia and possibly the world. For the first time you have a tool available to you that tells you, Not only what a student does in the workplace and their level of competence or capability, but now tells you what they understand about what they are doing. With this information you can target the training to what a student doesn’t know rather than provide training in things that they already know and can do. The formative learning/questions means that training is relevant and timely as the questions themselves are generated by what the student is doing on the job. There ability to answer correctly, demonstrates underpinning knowledge and if they answer incorrectly gaps in underpinning knowledge are revealed. How do you get the most out of assessment items. Formative questions need some thought to maximize there effectiveness but any question will achieve the desired outcome of stimulating a student to think about what they are doing. You can allocate a question in the assessment matrix to appear for either summative, formative or RPL questions. Each of these can and probably should look different but you can start with whatever you have got and improve the quality of question over time. I think its time to look past MY profiling being only a on the job evidence gathering tool and therefore limited to workplace delivery and see it as evidence gathering tool that effectively connects the dots between gathering different types of evidence, reporting it in one pace and allowing for competency decision to be made. By using the filter you can filter on a unit and also add in a tag. Effectively you can filter in a group of students attending a class and use the checklist to tick of that they complete all aspects of the task, when you are ready sit them down at a computer and make the assessment available, discuss with them their answers to the formative assessments. Add comments as evidence of student engagement. Assessment items include question and checklists. Checklists can be used at TAFE or ON THE JOB. Checklists can be project based or generic.

Summative assessment are self marking where applicable Allow for formal feedback Allow for numerous attempts Can be connected into the system so that when the trainer finalizes an assessment it ticks “off the Job Complete” in Profiling Formative assessment can be removed and best used as a point of contact for the Trainer to engage with students about what they are doing and what they understand about what they are doing. Assessment matrix provides a full and detailed mapping matrix for each unit of competency We provide you with the ability to map your questions, either multiple choice, written answer, RPL conversation or formative learning to both PC and knowledge We provide you with the ability to map your checklists to PC and Skills My profiling activities are mapped to PC and Skills A unique addition to this system is our validation tool. All trainers within an RTO can comment on each assessment item, be it question or checklist item. The question and answer are available for review. Minor edits such as typos etc. can be done without changing the accessibility of the question. Major edits mean that the assessment item is replaced with a new one. The new assessment item has a reference to the old assessment item for tracking purposes and continuous improvement. You can extend the opportunity for validation to other RTO’s of your choice who have MP accounts. We are talking with Manufacturing liaison unit about using MP assessment matrix to facilitate validation across the MEM package. We can provide a upload service to enter in data into assessment matrix providing you supply ques/ ans/ mapping .
