  1. What is BBC Three? • BBC Three is a television channel and online platform operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). It was launched as a TV channel in 2003, and in 2016, it became an online-only platform as part of the BBC's cost-cutting measures. However, in 2021, it was announced that BBC Three would return as a TV channel in early 2022, in addition to its online presence. • BBC Three also airs content from other broadcasters, as well as acquired shows from other countries. • BBC Three's online platform is available on the BBC iPlayer, where viewers can stream both original and acquired content. The channel also has a strong social media presence, with a significant following on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
  2. A Brief History of BBC Three • BBC Three was launched on February 9, 2003, as a digital TV channel aimed at young adults aged 16-34. Early on, it had smash hits such as ‘Little Britain’ and ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’. • In 2008, the vision changed for BBC Three, it began taking advantage of the new ‘digital takeover’ and made it’s own website with a range of exclusive content such as a web series, and shorter style videos. • 5 years later, in 2013, BBC Three moved to being a digital only platform, this was mainly to reduce costs and to continue targeting the younger audiences who were now consuming more and more digital content. • On February 1st 2022, BBC Three was relaunched, it was an £80M relaunch as it had re-evolved from being a web only program to also being televised in the UK.

What is BBC England Northern Voices? • BBC England Northern Voices is an initiative to help diversify and help their news coverage be more representative. • The aim of the campaign is to help people from underrepresented countries and to train them to become reporters and journalists. • The goal is to ensure that the voices and stories of people from diverse backgrounds in the north of England are heard and represented in the media. • The program is designed to be inclusive, welcoming individuals from a range of backgrounds and experiences. • It is mainly targeted towards younger and impressionable audiences.
  4. Documentary Styles • Observational Documentary: This type of documentary observes the subject matter in a natural way without any narration from the creator. It usually focuses on people, places, or events and seeks to capture real-life situations. • Expository Documentary: This type of documentary uses a narrator or presenter to provide context, information, and analysis. It typically includes interviews, voiceovers, and on-screen text to help explain the subject matter. • Participatory Documentary: In this type of documentary, the filmmaker becomes an active participant in the subject matter. They may appear on- screen, engage in conversation with the subjects, or even become part of the story themselves. • Reflexive Documentary: This type of documentary is self-aware and often makes fun of the process of making the film. It may include footage of the crew, behind-the-scenes material, or interviews with the filmmaker.
  5. Documentary Styles • Poetic Documentary: This type of documentary uses elements to create a mood or impression rather than simply presenting information. It often includes thoughtful cinematography, music, to evoke an emotional response from the audience. • Investigative Documentary: This type of documentary investigates a particular issue, often uncovering hidden truths. It typically includes interviews with experts, witnesses, and people directly affected by the issue. • Biographical Documentary: This type of documentary focuses on the life and achievements of a particular person, often a celebrity, It usually includes interviews with family, friends, and colleagues of the subject.
