Choir practice has begun, and we would love to have some new members!
If you’ve thought you might like to join, but are not quite sure about it, here’s an
opportunity to give it a try. We’d like to have a few more singers for the Service of
Lessons and Carols on December 15th. If you would like to be a part of that one
service, come to choir practice on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., and we’ll start
practice by working on the pieces for the Carol Service. We’ll finish up with the music
for the coming Sunday, and you’re welcome to stay, or you could leave at that time.
If you find that you really enjoy being part of the group, you might like to join us on a
regular basis! For more info, speak to Bill Goodfellow or call the Church Office.
LOOKING AHEAD….. The annual Advent Women’s Quiet Day this year is being led
by our own Rev’d Janet. The date is Friday, December 6th, which coincidentally is St.
Nicholas Day. As usual we will be at St. John’s Convent, 9:30 to 4. The new rate of
$40 covers noon dinner and coffee breaks as well as our usual meeting space in St.
Margaret’s Chapel. We always love to see new faces so don’t hesitate just because
you’ve never come before.
Please assist in the organization of this event by signing up well before the date (at the
Manderley door). The convent now requires a list of names two weeks prior. Please
call Rev’d Joan for further information, concerns, etc. Her number is 416 686 8620.
Donations to Outreach – at our Annual Vestry meeting in February 2013 the people of
St. Nicholas made a wonderful commitment to support our ongoing Parish Outreach
ministry. Since February, donations to Outreach have supported the Churches by the
Bluffs Foodbank, The Alzheimer’s Society Cooking and Support Group, and an InterFaith Lunch Program. Direct donations to Outreach may be made using the blue
envelopes at the back of the Church. Thank you for your continued support and for
making a difference in the lives of others.

Bazaar News
It’s almost here!!!! November 2nd from noon – 3pm.
Julia Hanson, Suzanne Lehtinen, Brian Jones – Bazaar Committee
BAZAAR FLYERS ARE AVAILABLE TODAY please take as many as you need
to distribute to your neighbourhood, friends and relatives, as well as to post in local
stores, libraries and condo announcement boards.
Sometimes the notice boards in stores and condos have a size limitation, so there
are two sizes of notices. Please help us to “Get the Word Out”. The flyers are
available for pick-up at both doors of the church, and some will be downstairs at
coffee hour after the 10:30 service.
The Jewellery Table is in need of good quality items to sell. Go through your
jewellery box, maybe you’ll find some pieces that you don’t wear anymore to
donate to this very popular table. Questions? speak to Mary Harris or Joan
Johnson or Betsy Jones.
New $1.00 items for the Pick-a-Pocket apron are still needed, they could be
brought in to the office this week to be wrapped.
Attic Treasures can be brought to the church beginning October 27th.
Of course, your baked goods for the Bake Table, and Sandwiches and Squares
for the Tea Room, will need to come in on Bazaar morning. There will be
someone here by 9:30a.m to receive these items.
Sharing the spirit of St. Nicholas, it’s time to fill a shoe box with school supplies,
hygiene items and small toys for a boy or girl in need through Samaritans Purse. Boxes
and instructions are at the back of the church. The deadline for returning the boxes is
November 17th.
The Celebration of All Saints – Sunday, November 3rd As we prepare to celebrate
the feast of All Saints you are invited to offer the names of those who have died, and
are close to your heart, whom you would like to have remembered. Please add the
individual names to the list at the back of the church. The written names will be
presented as part of the offertory on Sunday November 3rd. On Wednesday November
6th during our midweek service celebrating All Souls the written names will be read
aloud.
Please Join Us on Sunday, November 10th for a special Remembrance Sunday
Service. To help us in our act of remembrance, please bring a photo or keepsake of
your family members or friends who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces.
A display table will be placed in the East Transcept, and small index cards will be
provided so that you can note the name of the individual and their relationship to you.
