- Setting up your mydynavox account is the best place to begin. It’s a quick and easy setup, and at the end you will be provided with invaluable resources for you and your AAC communicator. First, click on that sign up button in the upper right corner of your screen.
- In a quick review, Your myDynaVox account let’s you register your DynaVox T10 or register your Compass App Tablet software. In addition to those important benefits, myDynaVox.com is going to provide you with a large number of implementation resources and guides, as well as access to a community support forum. We are going to finish today by reviewing these benefits.
- The set up wizard is a quick and easy guide to help you determine the best pageset option when getting started. It Removes the “guess work” out of where to start. It gets you to the right place based on your individual AAC communicator’s needs. It takes no more than 5 minutes before you are ready to start communicating with your DynaVox T10 or with the DynaVox compass app on your personal tablet computer. It’s simple to start and complete. Once you launch the dynaVox compass software, for the first time, you will select the big blue button, which is the setup wizard.
- The Last steps of the set up wizard are 6 easy questions to “fine tune” your pageset choice. These questions are presented each time you enter any one of the 5 pagesets. They guide you to the best starting point by suggesting a communication ability level for your AAC user.
- As I mentioned before, we looked at the NavBar pageset to demonstrate the communication tools. However we have Multiple pageset options designed to provide an appropriate starting place based on age, interests, ability levels, and prior experience with communication devices or apps. These pagesets offer a variety of different layouts and ways of organizing vocabulary. We continue to offer pages organized around a visual scene and have introduced additional pages in which the vocabulary is organized around a grid of buttons. You can choose a pageset that will help them to be the most successful communicators possible!
- The DynaVox Compass communication Pagesets incorporate an integrated set of communication tools. This was exciting to me, because as a clinician, I was used to carrying around my binder of “stuff” I might need for a session, blank pieces of paper, pencils, printed handouts of schedules, box of photos, or first/then behavioral supports or rating or pain scales. Or maybe if you work with adults who have had a stroke, they carry around a backback with a spiral notebook and business cards, maps, communication book – or a student who has a paper schedule to keep up with going from class to class along with their communication device. Now some of these are all ready to go within the same tool they using to communicate! So I am going to show some screenshots of the communication tools highlighted in the NavBar Pageset. Just one set of communication pages in the DV Compass software. If you are using a different pageset, which I will highlight after this, these tools may be organized differently.
- The navbar pageset offers both Visual Scene or Grid Layout. As we mentioned before there are up to 63 completed communication topics, which include topic specific messages and words, matched to ability level. Additional communication tools are provided to encourage participation and language learning. Onboard Behavior supports are available, specific to each topic with quick and simple editing features. It is also recommended for individuals who are able to access the device using their finger or stylus and do not need a keyguard
