3. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Temple’s Window Cleaning Services Feb 2012 – May 2016
41 Sandsend Road
Redcar
After I had the role of housewife for 2 years, I started this very successfulbusiness
with my husband. Following our divorce in 2013 I took over the entire business and it
went from strength to strength. Initially we had started using traditional window
cleaning methods, but I was able to bring the business into the 21st Century and
change to the ‘Pure Water, Reach and Wash’ system. This meant a more efficient,
profitable and ultimately better job being carried out for the customers.
As well as the actual physical work itself, as I worked for myself, I also dealt with the
advertising, customer service, record keeping, online payments and accounts for the
business; and if I do say so myself – very successfully.
To the disappointment of a lot of my customers, I sold this business in May 2016 as I
have come to the Dominican Republic for at least a year to carry out a voluntary Bible
Education work.
Middlesbrough, Redcarand Cleveland PCT Nov 2006 – Aug 2010
Physiotherapy Department
One Life Centre
Linthorpe Road
Middlesbrough
Initially I was employed by the Physiotherapy Department as a receptionist. However,
in a short while I was trained in, and called upon to help with all administrative duties
including data research/entry; transcribing letters from the medical professionals;
minute taking; filing; and handling customer queries and complaints.
Whilst I was there the National Health Service introduced a brand new computerised
system that linked all practices nationwide. I was trained in this system which I was
able to pick up very quickly. I in turn was able to train others also.
4. Middlesbrough PCT Aug 2004 – Nov 2006
South Bank Clinic
Middlesbrough Road
South Bank
I held the position of receptionist in this busy NHS clinic. My duties involved liaising
between visitors, patients and the medical professionals; handling phone calls, making
appointments, filing, faxing, photocopying and dispensing baby milk to those on
family credit. As a result, I was constantly interacting with members of the public I
also was trained and managed a switchboard between the clinic and other NHS
buildings. This called for me to have a warm, yet professional manner.
For Goodness Sake HealthFoodShop March 2003 – Aug 2004
13 Newport Road
Middlesbrough
Within this family run business, I was entrusted with many varied responsibilities. As
well as obviously serving customers, I was also trained to advise on health issues and
complimentary medicines. In the day to day running of the business I assisted in the
merchandising, ordering and stock rotation. I was also called upon to handle numerous
phone queries.
I regularly worked at the Coulby Newham branch, where I was given the
responsibility of working on my own, hence the need to be self-disciplines and self-
motivated. Whilst there, I was entrusted with opening and closing the store, as well as
cashing up.
As the only computer literate member of staff at the time, I handled the emails and
company reports.
5. BT Fault ManagementAdvisor Sept 2001 – March 2003
BT Call Centre
RopeWalk
Lincoln
The main responsibility I had as a Faults Advisor for British Telecom was to take the
details of the customer’s complaints regarding the faults on their phone lines. I would
file the report on the system, test the lines remotely, then advise them further or
appoint an engineer to visit them.
This required excellent typing skills as well as intense training on the entire telephony
service; but more importantly, it required such skills as patience and empathy in
dealing with customers who were often irate.
ASDA BakeryAssistant Feb 1998 – Sept 2001
Newark Road
North Hykeham
Lincoln
As a Bakery Assistant I had the responsibility of the preparation and productionof
fresh food items, as well as pre-packing such items and assisting customers.
Other tasks performed involved creating accurate stockreports and overall
responsibility of markdowns.
Self Employed Window Cleaner June 1995 – Feb 1998
Lincoln
Straight from schoolI started working for my father’s business. As well as the
physical work, I interacted with the customers and kept accurate records and books.
This taught me self-discipline and self-motivation.
