  3. 3. OPEN QUESTIONS  What is Culture?  What is Civilization?  Define the differences of Culture and Civilization

DEFINITIONS OF CULTURE  The cumulative deposit of knowledge, experience, beliefs, values, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies, religion, notions of time, roles, spatial relations, concepts of the universe, and material objects and possessions acquired by a group of people through generations.  Systems of knowledge shared by a relatively large group of people.  Cultivated behavior – socially transmitted, behavior through social learning.  A way of life of a group of people (learned tradition) – behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next.  Symbolic communication – group's skills, knowledge, attitudes, values, and motives.

Definitions of Civilization: - advancement of human society - stage of social/ human development & organization - prosperity and advancement of people - development of knowledge, code of conduct, rules, religion, belief, morality, & justice...... - good order, good conduct, well discipline........
  7. 7. B. TYPES OF CIVILIZATION  Conduct  code of conduct (action, speech & mind)  Physical Perspective  physical appearance, complexion  Gender  as a man/ a woman  Capacity  knowledge/ intellectuality, wisdom.....

ROOT OF CIVILIZATION  Morality  compassion & forgiveness  Humanity  no killing, no stealing, no misconduct in sexual intercourse, no telling lie, no using drugs  Civics  know reason, know own self, adapt to living, adapt time, adapt society, know to make friend  Cultivation  attitude, perspective, gender, knowledge/ intellectuality  Prosperity  advanced conduct, perspective, gender, intellectuality
