Airborne with landing gears extended
A great Christmas present: "Mriya" visits Amsterdam. Our airport has a lot of 
bridges that could not handle the weight of the 225 so the aircraft had to stay on 
the west side of the airport. It seen here parked on a taxiway and the crew are 
preparing the aircraft for the loading procedure.
The massive AN-225 Mriya (NATO name Cossak) never fails to impress, 
this head on close up does not include all six engines but illustrates the immense 
size of the aircraft and how similar it is to its sister aircraft the AN124. 
It also shows the mounts used for the carrying the Buran shuttle. 
The aircraft was departing back to Kiev on a ferry flight from EMA.
On The Edge Of Darkness
Departing Prestwick from a wet Runway 13 at 7pm, this aircraft always brings 
out the Photographers no matter the weather as you can see here.
Definitely unusual to see this huge beast come and go from Memphis International.
Coming into land on RW 3-1.
Loading process with cable-rolls with lowered front gear. A/c took off with 3hrs delay.

Spot the biggest bird in the world in front of CGN´s tower, nice to see.
Stopping at Keflavik for fuel and crew rest while carrying relief equipment to the USA 
after hurricane Katrina
Most noticeable aspect of the Mriya cockpit are the six engine throttle levers.
Under construction at Aviant-Kiev Aviation Plant. Its my dream to see this 
Mriya in the air.
Hundreds of people are watching you... say 'cheese'...

First flight of the An-225 was December 21, 1988. Here on static display at Paris 
Air Show 1989, it was also the first appearance in the west for the "Mriya". On the roof 
rack the soviet space ship "Buran".
Aircraft length 275.7 feet, wingspan 290 feet (almost as long as a football field!).
A/C makes a"dirty" at the Abbotsford Air Show.
