Developer and manufacturer of hardware
EPAK is a German developer and manufacturer of
stabilized maritime VSAT and TV antennas. The fully
automatic satellite tracking antennas bring broadband
internet and TV reception to any seagoing vessel. The
portfolio includes antennas with dish sizes from 45 to
130cm, making them suitable for commercial shipping,
private yachts, ferries, coast guards, fishing fleets and
governmental marine.
EPAK Introduction
Competence from a single source
EPAK's key to success is offering highly innovative
products by controlling all essential processes: from
researching and prototyping to series production and
customer support, all key competences are available in-
house. As a reliable R&D partner, EPAK's expertise was
sought by several satellite communication technology
projects.
Experience
EPAK was founded in 2000 and is one of the oldest
providers of maritime satellite systems in the market.

Leipzig-based EANT was founded in 2000 as a development company and has since been working with and for great
partners such as DLR (German Aerospace Center), the Fraunhofer Institute or Airbus.
8. Excerpt of current projects
Based on the EPAK TV Quattro series, the passive radar systems are automatic tracking antennas designed for
maritime applications. In addition to the satellite tracking mode, they realize a special tracking functionality. The
system consists of two separate tracking antennas. They are called reference antenna and radar antenna.
Reference and radar roll can be set via the web interface of the respective ACU.
Universal land mobile terminal for mobile broadband communication via Ka satellites. VSAT antenna
development for the commercial Ka-band (Rx: 19.2 GHz to 20.2 GHz; Tx: 29.0 GHz to 30.0 GHz). The system is
based on an aperture consisting of modularly assembled metallized plastic segments. Injection molded and
subsequently electroplated, the aperture is formed by an array of horn antennas with overlapping individual
apertures.
The attenuation of coaxial cables increases steadily with their length. A common alternative nowadays is to
switch to fiber optic cables in this case. The aim of the project was therefore to develop a plug-in system that
enables optical signal transmission but otherwise behaves transparently for the existing VSAT system.
Together with more than 20 renowned partners from industry and research, such as Deutsche Telekom AG,
Rohde & Schwarz, IMST GmbH, TU Kaiserslautern and the University of Bremen, EANT GmbH is already
conducting research on next-generation mobile communications.
The project is investigating the extent to which 3D networks, consisting of satellites, drones and stratospheric
gliders, among other things, are capable of providing larger areas with high-speed communications through the
6G standard. https://www.forschung-it-sicherheit-kommunikationssysteme.de/projekte/6g-takeoff
The goal of the project is to develop a novel 3D imaging sensor based on MIMO radar technology. The
integration of holography and secondary radar principles will enable multiple applications from documenting
critical operations to monitoring the workspace of autonomous robots to allow them to operate in the workspace
shared with humans.
