CLOUD
TELIA CLOUDY SERVERS
• Initially on Citrix CloudPlatform
• Migrated to open source CloudStack in Q1 2016
• Now running on ACS 4.9.2.
• User front-end - native CloudStack UI – many advantages
• Back-end – Cisco UCS, mix of NetApp, launching Q2 2017 –
Cloudian Object storage integrated into CloudStack UI
• The insurance policy – ShapeBlue (tnx, guys!)
• The strong point – delivering cloud and network in an integrated manner, with one high SLA and E2E responsibility
• Experts in mixing and matching physical and virtual routers, various network layers and protocols – L2, L3, MPLS,
etc.
• Our own ehancements:
- two-factor authentication via SMS
- “The Tarifficator” – a tool pulling info from CloudStack usage server and external DBs (for licence reporting, for instance),
enabling PAYG billing, discount management, invoicing.

• Only the harshest and toughest of IT pros do not do
backups. We are too responsible for our customers well-
being to afford this
• A true backup is when there are no overlapping pieces of
production chain, even with CloudStack 
• Veeam, Idera, Veritas as technologies used
• Yet, for customers executing multi cloud strategy for very
high availability/disaster recovery, another CloudStack
based REGION is envisaged

• Controllers/NVRs – a virtual instance with attached storage
• Various plans – from 10GB to 10TB and more
• A great way to sell cloud services bundled with network services
(cameras stream to cloud constantly), equipment rental services
(cameras, PoE switches, routers), installation and maintenance
services
• An effective way to balance network traffic – camera streams are
incoming traffic to data center/cloud, while normally content is
consumed by Internet users from DC/cloud

11. A STATE-OF-ART VIDEO PLATFORM
TELIA CLOUDY CDN
• Self-developed software for automated content work-flows
• Based on components from other vendors (Wowza, Veset,
SoftLab)
• All platform machines running as VMs on Cloudstack
• Easily scalable for growing workloads and number of video
assets, tnx to CloudStack
• Global CDN(s) used for content delivery, mainly – Telia CDN
• Several plans for different customer sizes – SMB to
enterprise, PAYG option
• Used for live events (conferences, sports, shows), video
libraries, OTT TV channels
