3. Introduction
 Pakistan and China remained stable neighbors during the last thirtyfive years.
 COMMON OBJECTIVE: to promote world peace and stability by maintaining the regional geo-
political balance.
 Pakistan was the first Muslim country to recognize the new regime and establish diplomatic
relations with her.
 Strategic and political considerations influenced the course of relation between both the
countries.
 Pakistan supported China in United Nations and all international bodies/organizations.
 History taught Chinese people that they cannot live in peace so long as there is no peace in the
neighboring countries.

5. Boundary and Trade Agreement
 March 2,1963, Pakistan and China both signed a trade agreement in Beijing, Pakistan gained
control over 750 sqmile of territory (land and salt mine)which were under China.
 January 4,1963 Pakistan and China signed a trade agreement, which provided for commercial
exchanges on the basis of most favored Nations treatment.
 February 13,1965 Another agreement was signed, direct radio and communications link Was also
established.

6. Karakoram Highway
 Most important development from both military and commercial point of view.
 Reopening of Silk route, joining Xinjiang with Hunza Valley to traders on 1967.
 IMPORTANCE OF KARAKORAM HIGHWAY:-
 In case of any attack on Pakistan by sea, military aid from China can reach Pakistan through this
route. The bridges on the highway are capable of caring light weight tanks.
 Useful in time of Peace as well as war.

7. China’s Role During Wars
 China’s role in 1965 Indo-Pak War.
 China’s role in 1971 Indo-Pak War.

8. China’s contribution in Defense
 Heavy Mechanical Complex, Taxila.
 Heavy Foundry and Forge, Near Taxila.
 Tank-rebuild Factory and arms plant, Kamra near Attock.

 Enlightened self-interest of both the countries.
 Developed more or less common outlook on world affairs despite different ideologies.
 Relationship purely on common intreset and experiences.
 “Friend in need is a friend indeed”
 Excellent example of integrative relationship
 Both are in promotion of regional stability and world peace.
