El pan – restaurants will cut it up, but the pieces are still large enough that you still have to break it off to eat it. The baguettes are generally a crispy outside with a soft inside. The bread is served is all almuerzos and if you eat it, you pay for each piece! It is also served with vinagre y aceite de oliva

This is the signature dish of Segovia. You can’t go through Segovia without eating it! The restaurant on the SE side of the Plaza Mayor has the best cochinillo!

I told the kids the story of working on my masters at the university in Santiago de Compostela. Everyday a boy in front of me would offer pay a few euros to the teacher to NOT have a daily quiz. She always responded with the fact that she couldn’t take money but rather “págueme con el jamón” lol This is a great story to emphasis the value of good ham that Spain is known for.
Los pasteles are like nothing these students have ever tried! Guaranteed! They can only experience such heaven if they travel with me! Explain the euro symbol and the exchange rate of the money. As of yesterday 5/8/13 it was $1 = $.76 euros. So we pay more for the same goods,ie the euro is stronger than the dollar. So, these treats are around $2 each.
More pastries. A to-go pastry or sandwich will be wrapped in very pretty paper to be carried with you until you are ready to eat.
Sandwiches can be prepared to either eat immediately (in a restaurant) or to take along on a picnic if you Tienemuchaprisa.

Candy stores are abundant. I’m not sure if it’s because Spaniards really eat that much candy or if it’s to appease the tourists in the capital city.In the lower right corner are some packaged candies from Salamanca, a city straight east of Madrid, near Portugal.
Mazapan is a bread-like pastry made from almonds so it is gluten-free for those with a special diet. It’s a confection made of ground almonds or almond paste, egg whites, and sugar, often molded into decorative shapes. It is typically eaten at Christmas time, but is sold year-round.

¿Quéclase de restaurantees? ¿Quéllevanmuchas personas? ¿Porqué? This video was taken in a sport bar in June 2012 in Madrid, near the Puerta de Toledo, during the World Cup in Spain. Spain ended up winning that year and there was a HUGE party in the streets all night, through morning.
