Sciennes P1-P3 Christmas Jumper Day Assembly 11.12.20
Today, Friday 11th December 2020 was Christmas Jumper Day and it was just lovely to see the children looking so festive and colourful! We were raising money for Save The Children and have been astonished that, with Gift Aid included, it has reached more than £900! Such amazing generosity from our amazing families. It was already a grand amount raised for Save The Children at the time we announced it in Assemblies today. Our P4-P6 Equality Advisors introduced themselves and wanted me to pass on their thanks to all families who have completed their anti-bullying survey. P1 and P2 pupils will get a paper questionnaire next week and P3-P7 will be able to do this online from next week on SeeSaw or Teams. We linked the Save The Children appeal to our school value of Inclusion and Mr Hunter read Dr Seuss’ story of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” to P1-P3. It really has been wonderful to witness the kindness our whole school community is willing to extend to others.

- We are raising money online for Save the Children
- The Save the Children Fund,[2] commonly known as Save the Children, was established in the United Kingdom in 1919 to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts. After passing a century, it is now a global movement made up of 29 national member organisations which works in 120 different countries. The organisation promotes policy changes to gain more rights for young people[3] especially by enforcing the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Saving the Children through co-ordinate emergency-relief efforts, helping to protect children from the post effects of war and violence.
