1. Srednjovekovna iseljavanja i seobe, poput velikih seoba Srba u Istocnu i
Zapadnu Evropu
2. Potomci iseljenika koji su se otusnili u svet pre Drugog svetskog rata
3. Posleratna politicka emigracija, tj. Srbi i njihovi potomci koji su bili
prinudjeni na odlazak iz zemlje pobedom komunista u gradjanskom ratu od 1941. do
1945. godine
4. Ekonomska emigracija: radnici raznih zanimanja i strucnjaci koji su otisli u
zapadnoevropske i prekomorske zemlje 1961.-1991. u potrazi za profesionalnim i
materijalnim uspehom
5. Izbeglice od rata i posledica rata u bivsoj Jugoslaviji od 1991. naovamo.
Pocetkom devedesetih, poceo je novi rat na Balkanu, izazvan raspadom druge
Jugoslavije u kojoj je zivelo 9,5 miliona Srba i Crnogoraca. Kriza je izazvala i
masovni egzodus jugoslovenskih i srpskog naroda. Sedmi talas iseljavanja
zahvatio je 4,1 miliona Jugoslovena i time i Srbe iz svih republika nekadasnje
Socijalisticka Federativna Republika Jugoslavija SFRJ, koji da bi izbegli
stradanja u Sloveniji, Hrvatskoj, Bosni i Hercegovini odlaze u dva pravca - ka
otadzbini i ka tudjini. Pored Srbije, Crne Gore tj. trece Jugoslavije i
Republike Srpske iseljeni Srbi nalaze svoje utociste u Australiji, Novom
Zelandu, SAD, Kanadi, Juznoj Africi, Nemackoj, Austriji, Madjarskoj, Norveskoj,
Svedskoj, Danskoj, Italiji. Sankcije i ekonomska kriza potakli su tada i
migraciju nezaposlenih i mladih ljudi koji su svoju bolju buducnost trazili,
takodje, na Zapadu planete.
Stanovnici Republike Srbije do 1991. se nalaze u neravnopravnom polozaju u
odnosu sa izbeglicama od rata i posledica rata u bivsoj Jugoslaviji od 1991.
naovamo, jer im nije dozvoljena radna viza zbog cega je ukinuto i nepostoji
potreba za Ministarstvom za dijasporu Republike Srbije.
