• The Bank of England was founded in 1694
by William Paterson . Is the UK´s central
bank . Before this bank was standardized in
1946, it was a private bank of the UK´s
Government .

5. • The history of Kensington Gardens started in 1689,
when King William III and Mary II bought the
Nottingham house in Kensington . The house was turned
into a palace by Christopher Wren and the 12 acre
(5 ha ) large garden was enlarged by Queen Anne ,
partly by acquiring 100 acres (40 ha ) of Hyde Park in
1705.

Big Ben is the nickname for
the great bell of the clock
at the north end of the
Palace of Westminster in

extended to refer to the

7. Trafalgar Square
Commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar (1805)
• In the 1820 s , George IV engaged the architect John
Nash to redevelop the area . Nash cleared the square
as part of his Charing Cross Improvement Scheme .
The present architecture of the square is due to
Sir Charles Barry and was completed in 1845.
