2. Once upon a time a hen and her daughter, Little Red Riding Chicken, lived on a farm.
One day, Little Red Riding Chicken’s grandpa was feeling sick, so the hen sent her
daughter to the other side of the farm to give him some seeds. Because there can be
dangerous animals on the farm, the hen made Little Red Riding Chicken promise not
to talk with any strangers.

3. On her way across the farm, Little Red Riding Chicken met a Wolf.
“Where are you going?,” asked the Wolf.
Little Red Riding Chicken thought that the wolf looked harmless, so she said “I’m
going to my Grandpa’s coop to bring him some seeds, but my mother said not to talk
with strangers, so I need to be on my way.”

4. Now the wolf was very hungry. And when he heard that the little chicken was
going to visit her Grandpa, he saw the opportunity for two delicious dinners. So
he took a short cut to the other side of the farm. When he found the house, he
crept in, grabbed the old rooster and locked him the closet to wait until he was
ready for dinner.

5. When Little Red Riding Chicken got her Grandpa’s house, she came into his room and
saw her Grandpa laying in bed. But he didn’t quite look like himself. So she asked him,
“Grandpa, what big eyes you have!?”
“The better to see you with,” the Wolf replied.
“And Grandpa, what big ears you have?!”
“The better to hear you with,” he replied.
“And Grandpa, what big TEETH you have!?” she said, more than a little alarmed.

6. “The better to eat you with!!” cried the Wolf and he leapt out of the bed
and pounced on Little Red Riding Chicken!

7. Just then, the Farmer was passing by the Grandpa’s chicken coop. She
heard Little Red Riding Chicken’s cries for help.

8. Just as the Wolf was about to gobble up the little chicken, the Farmer rushed
into the coop and killed the Wolf, rescuing Little Red Riding Chicken and her
Grandpa.

9. “Thank you, thank you!” cried Little Red Riding Chicken and Grandpa.
“You are very welcome,” said the Farmer, “but next time, Little Red Riding Chicken,
promise me that you won’t talk to any more strangers!”
“I promise,” replied Little Red Riding Chicken.
And she never did.
