  1. Summary of Audience Feedback By Sam Hulme
  2. Audience Feedback  During our ideas and concepts of our Media product, we have created a questionnaire to ensure enough feedback is necessary for strength and weaknesses. Also allowing our group to answer future evaluative questions and to answer our own questions on our contributions and improvements. And finally allowing us for future references to apply similar techniques and aspects.  Our group has decided to create questions that would both help us answer future evaluative questions such as technological qualities and the questions also linked to our quality of product. Our group also allowed us to discover the true inner emotions and minor improvements towards our media product. This also linked towards our representational, narrative and cultural codes and conventions.  Also designing the questionnaires had to influence and ensure potential for Sociology and Media Studies Students and teachers. Therefore creating a range of different perspectives and opinions with different people specialized in different types of subjects therefore allowing us to expand knowledge and opinions over the media product’s conventions from a sociologist and a media student’s point of view.
  3. Designing the Questions  For the first question “How does the narrative make you feel?” our group felt this was appropriate in order to evaluate and ensure our media product incorporated a different post modernistic form of narrative. This was also particularly useful for the other Media Studies students which will allow them to express their representational ideas. The sociologist students and teacher were also allowed to express their emotions and show a lot of opinions to apply their theories and knowledge over the mise en scene’s representation over society and political aspects.  For the second question “Which genre would you associate the media product with?” (Rock, Brit pop, etc.) our group used this question to compare our media product to existing media products and show whenever or not our media products ensures conventions of traditional rock genre codes and conventions similar to Muse.  For the third question “Which particular parts of the music video did you find captivating or obscured? Why?” our group designed this question to allow ourselves to observe the quality and individuality of our media product. This also allows us to pick advantages and disadvantages over our media product to ensure us if the media product links towards our alternative rock genre. This would also allow us to evaluate our technological aspects and to see the overall opinion to ensure if our media product was being consumed by other audience members.
  4.  For the fourth question entitled “Do you feel that the media product could be distributed with a music video institution such as MTV? Why?” our group felt that this question allowed us to see if our media product could be incorporated in global distribution to expand roots and reputation. Also using the music institution example MTV was useful due to researching its company intentions and types of musical products. This question also allowed us to become specific and linking to narrative and genre allowing expansion of information and ideas.  For the fifth question titled “Which target audience would you associate with the music video?” allowed our group to see if our media product had clearly provided uses and gratifications for our intended target audience members consisting of teenagers. This also linked to the fourth question due to music institutions such as MTV targeting young audiences and allowing themselves to provide needs and benefits towards societal groups.
  5.  For the sixth question entitled “Do you feel the lyrics were synchronous to the Media product? Why?” this allowed us to find specific pleasures for the audience to see if the media product was similar and synchronous to the song. This questioned on the quality of the music video’s use of conventions to express the purpose of the song, which also links to whenever the media product does provide the qualities for the target audience. The question also allowed us to see if our target audience found our technological and representational qualities. This would be beneficial for the future evaluation questions.  For the final question entitled “ Overall do you feel that the media product is more traditional or abstract? Why, using examples? This allowed us to create different perspective views from sociology and the media therefore allowing us to find out the media product’s characteristics and intentions. This question also allowed both groups to summaries their conclusion of the structure of the media product making it very synoptic and suggest different opinions and specific interests. This question also linked to the genre and specific parts questions allowing us to expand similar and different opinions over the media product’s form.
  6. Feedback  The audience has a different range of emotions that included oppositional and a spectrum of ideas that made us unsuspected and sometimes surprised over the that 2 people felt that the narrative is very energetic and becomes more motive and linking towards the consideration of the riots and fiery scenes of the media product. 2 people also felt confused and other 2 felt scared of the narrative making us wonder if our media product was too negative and abstract against traditional media conventions. Few audience members also felt inspired, indigent, complicated, clever and powerful. And a few referred to the riots scenes showing us that the riots build iconic and representational conventions towards the genre also theme of the media product.  The audience members also questioned the genre identity of the media product. From the questionnaire, a dramatic increase of 22 people out of 25 that answered our questioned thought our media product had mostly incorporated the rock genre. 1 person thought it incorporated the soft rock genre, 1 person thought the media product had incorporated the brit pop genre. And the final person was confused of the media product’s integrity. Therefore this could provide us limitations and opinions for our future evaluation questions.
  7. A pie chart to represent the percentage of people’s opinions over the genre of the music video. 4 4 Key % % 88%
  8.  Audience members also thought that the media product has included parts that were important and appropriate. Others thought that our media product has used the news extracts from present were very expressive and the laptop scene to make it very effective. The flashing light and the different effects made the media product very captivating with the use of lightning and blurred editing with the riot scenes making the media product very effective. The use of montage and imagery made the entire media product interact with the destruction of society and the change of background with colors making it instable and show a lot of links to the narrative. The reality shots such as the Totten ham riots made build a contrast of abstract expression and reality. The riot footage and driving were very impressive in terms of editing and footage showing a lot of potential and different purposes. Overall most thought the technological aspects were particularly useful and linked to the narrative very effective and showed a lot of different themes and perspective views.  23 of the 25 audience members thought that the media product should be effective for being incorporated with a music institution such as MTV. Whereas 1 person didn't’t think the media product. Most people thought that the media product should be close to reality and thought the use of editing and filming was useful. It was also generic and it was synchronous to the music to create a lot of emotion and integrity across the representational codes and conventions.
  9.  12 of the 25 audience members that our group had questionnaire thought the music video was mostly targeted at teenagers. Whereas the rest of the 13 members out of the 25 thought completely different ideas such as men, 20-30 year olds, 18-25 and 14- 30. This both intrigues us and made us shock that our group did achieve some potential from the target audience but however some didn't’t clearly see that our media product was mostly targeted for teenagers will create considerations and initial thoughts.  17 out of the 25 that our groups had questioned thought that the music video had worked really well synchronizing the lyrics with the media product. Whereas 2 people didn't’t think so and 4 didn't’t know. Our group felt very pleased but had few considerations on those who said no and don’t know due to the question linking towards the narrative and genre of the media product.
  10. Bar chart to represent the number of people’s opinions over the target audience 16% 12% Key 12% 12% 48%
  11. Conclusion  Finally to summarize the audience feedback, for the last question most audience members felt that the media product was contemporary to approach, the use of drums, guitar and editing were particularly useful and the media product was traditional but parts of abstract were included such as the use of colors and effects on camera on the car and rear. The use of lightning and editing also showed variety of montage and settings therefore creating a lot of impact and great use of footage. Some audience members also compared our media product to others through genre and settings by illustrating on change and forms. Specific examples such as the riots scene and the car scenes were used to strengthen their ideas and explanations.
