Product availability has fallen very sharply in the adverse credit market from around 9,000 products in the summer to under 1500 in Jan 08, while the prime market has seen a much more modest fall. The prime market has a much lower risk profile with rates of default around one fifth of the average for adverse credit and the prime market is more often funded from the traditional retail funding markets.
